Headed up to Minocqua on Friday to ski Wolf Tracks Rendezvous at Winter Park (which was great choice). Had read Lincoln County recently groomed Underdown, so stopped in and found perfect tracks. Returned today on way home and skied the big 17.6 k blue loop, late morning into early afternoon. The tracks were perfect thru out, a bit of hemlock debris in the thickest hemlock groves but not problematic at all. We were on fish scales which proved to be a good choice. We have wanted to return here for some time but condition information can be hard to find. Super glad we did other than we got worked pretty good. Very hilly, with lots of turns and few flats or straight sections. With incredibly beautiful old growth Hemlock stands and glaciated terrain. Old school grooming with almost all hills tracked. A saving grace is very wide cord on either side of the tracks, though not enough to skate. Excellent signage as well. The fish scales were nice as the decents were pretty manageable. This is not a place for beginners! Extremely glad we skied here today even if yesterdays 48 k had us wanting something easier.
