Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
14" Base. The recent warm weather and now cold, has solidified the base to the point our equipment may be damaged if we attempt to groom. We assessed the trail today and determined we will need fresh snow to start grooming again. Conditions are good to fair.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
16" Base. The entire Lauterman National Recreation Trail system was groomed and tracked. A few inches of new snow resulted in a flat surface with great tracks. Some minor debris exists in the red pine stands along the Chipmunk Rapids spur, but other than that, conditions are excellent.

It was so good to ski the Lauterman after last year’s government shutdown and the marginal weather the year before. Freshly groomed and great skiing.
Chili Ski In at Lauterman 10-2 pm on February 1.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
15" Base. The entire Lauterman National Recreation Trail was groomed and tracked in preparation for the weekend. A few inches of snow, mixed with the recently rolled base, have created excellent skiing conditions. We've reopened a few trail segments which haven't been groomed the past few years, so come on out and enjoy Lauterman!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
10" Base. The entire trail system was groomed and tracked, including a few loops which had been groomed in the past and have now been reclaimed. Some minor debris on the trail from recent storms. The recent warm weather, rain and heavy snow fall has made grooming difficult, however conditions are still very good.

I probably skied the Lauterman Trails a little too early this morning as the tracks were lightning fast from overnight freezing. Started the ski in from Chipmunk Rapids; trail was rough from snowshoe and foot traffic over the tracks for the first half mile and then improved as that activity had gotten off the trail at the clearing. Skied Porcupine Loop and conditions were good.

Lauterman is groomed and single-tracked for classic skiing. Conditions overall are very good on this legendary trail. The track is not always distinct on Lauterman Lake Loop due to what appears to be some multi use activity. But the rest of the system including chipmunk Rapids Trail is fantastic. There are remnants of post snowstorm carnage in the dense conifer stands, but it's been cleared and doesn't affect the skiing at this point. I skied the entire system, and there was only one (small) tree obstructing trail on the return leg of L Lake Loop, which was removed from Trail by yours truly.

Poor conditions. Someone took a snowmobile around front loop and completely wiped out track on about 95% of the trail. The groomer had done a excellent job and the back loop looked OK although I didn't ski it. Looked like they did a lot of work to get trail in good shape, too bad one person can wipe it out without much trouble.
