Beautiful evening on the trail. Trail is soft but so nice to get out on the fresh snow. Thank you groomers.

Amazing back to winter conditions. A little soft since we just got 8" of snow. Tracks nice and deep. Get out while it lasts!

Absolutly best conditions I've seen all year. Thank you groomers! Fast, firm skate deck with good float. Fast descents and fast climbing. Firm deep classic tracks. Bring your hill climbing legs and your fast step turns. You'll be grinning and saying, just one more Lap!

Chester was glorious late morning today! A few sticks, but easy to avoid. A bit soft for poling. If you lean on your arms as I do, be a bit careful, small pole baskets can sink 8" occasionally. If you're there on a sunny morning, look up and towards the lake when you're near the top- the birch have ice on the branch tips that shimmers in the sun. Classic track was good except for all the nicks from careless skaters, and a 50 foot section with a ton of footprints.

Trails are groomed but soft. Some footprints on the lower sections. Part of a downed tree on one of the uphills, not an issue. I wished I'd have put the big baskets on my poles. There is a slight detour at the bottom just after the track, you have to take a hard left and ski through a few yards of ungroomed snow to get back to the groomed trail.

First time at Chester this year, freshly groomed and faster than expected with the temps. All trails are open and in good shape and tracked. Skied the whole system.

My first lap was challenging with the trail in desperate need of a grooming. Lots of drifted snow and foot traffic. I gave up. But as I tossed my skis into my car, the groomer showed up. Beautiful cord now. The big rock near the top of the first long climb still has minimal coverage.

It was groomed today. Thank you groomers! Base is soft. Classic tracks looked good but blowing snow is filling them in. The top of the climb by the lift is drifted so bad you have to snowshoe ski for 75yrd or so. Otherwise, fantastic conditions! Enjoyed skiing my favorite trail today!

Observation
We hiked around the Chester ski trail area and the entire trail is pretty much hard packed ice with lots of foot prints. Very treacherous looking.
