Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Classic skied the North loop this afternoon. The trail was groomed and tracked; very firm and littered with debris. Signs of human and dog prints abounded, even though the trail was clearly marked for skiing only.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Brown's Creek was rolled early in the morning and allowed to set up throughout the day; and grooming of the skate deck and classic track was done late Sunday night. Please announce your arrival when come up behind walkers. Additional grooming of the skate deck will done in a couple of days to keep it in skiable condition. The classic track will not be done unless conditions dictate that it should.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Brown's Creek trail system is a hidden little gem. The classic tracks are very good in the open areas, both in the hillier section north of the Brown's Creek State Trail and the flatter section to the south of the trail. There is a fair amount of small debris on the trails in the wooded areas, so you will want the B skis for those areas. I did not encounter any bare spots or even grass or stubble poking through the base. The base is definitely firm, but there were amazingly few icy spots. I was using the old fish-scales and had enough grip to stay in the track except on the few short, steep climbs that link the trail loops. The switchback turn along McKusick Road at the NW end of the trail system demands a little care. My two descents there were a little more adventurous than I would have liked and I witnessed a skater take a tumble on that hill. Speaking of skating, the skate deck is in excellent condition out in the meadows (very firm and very fast) and a little thin and covered with twigs out in the woods.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Both skate deck and classic tracks remain good and very good. Good grip and glide in the mostly well defined track. Shallow but secure edging for skating on both sides of the Brown's creek bike/walking trail. Thanks Ed, Ralph, and others for putting in the extra grooming efforts to make these trails accessible to a lot of skiers in search of snow during this very lean year.
