Skied at Mirror Lake today around 12:00, park staff were in the process of grooming. Most trails were in good to excellent condition, good only because of wind debris very good snow coverage. Fern Dell, Turtleville and Hastings by far are in the best condition. Northwest was in the process of being groomed as I skied and should be very good. Enjoy the trails while you can.

We arrived after lunch and were surprised to see the trails not groomed with 2-3 inches of fluff on top. It was still great for skating as long as you didn't get towards the sides of the trail. My first time here, so I'm not sure if the lack of grooming is the norm here. Great coverage on all loops, though the Northwest trail had a couple tricky downhills with snow carved out. Average speed with the soft fluff and faster packed base. Not too much debris either. Had a pleasant time on these trails!

I skied Kilbourn, Ishnala, Pioneer, Hastings and all of Northwest. All in very good condition with more snow than in Madison. Litter is a problem, all the trails had a lot of pine needles and oak leaves which slowed me down stepping in and out of tracks and trying to get around them. also making some of the NW hills tricky. Portions of NW were more than half covered until I reached the second bypass and it was clean. The other trails were not as impacted by this but by no means clean. If you're using a sticky wax you'll have problems. I'd recommend waxless or skates on these trails.

Great day of skiing at Mirror Lake Park. Skated on a flat smooth deck with ample loose snow over a firm icy base. No problem with control on downhills. Skated on pioneer, Ishnala, Hastings, and Fern Dell loops. On Fern dell the entire skate deck had been groomed along with new deep tracks. The other loops I skied had new tracks but approximately 1/2 of the width of the skating deck was groomed, while the remaining width had one inch of ungroomed snow. This did not seem to affect skating. The only concern was some surface litter of leaf and pine cone needles from the yesterdays wind post-grooming. My wife classic skied and occasionally some leaves stuck to her kick wax.

I stopped by Mirror Lake today and skied 22 km freestyle getting ready for Saturday's 50km Birkie skate. The skate deck was a bit soft but overall conditions I would say were good to very good. There is plenty of snow on all the downhills making them fun to ski.

Skied this afternoon with KJ. Trails were groomed. Track was set by groomer on Friday but reset by skiers today. Great base, soft conditions and they were planning on grooming Monday.

Classic skied between 9am-11am Sunday on Fern Dell and Turtleville Trail. It was snowing fluffy snow as we skied. Could not tell if the groomer had been through lately. We found the classic track in good condition. We had a very enjoyable day of skiing.

Skied Mirror Lake Hastings and Homestead Loops Saturday afternoon. Good, really good, in fact. They groomed after the melt/refreeze, then got 1" plus of powder on top. Deep, firm tracks. Hard wax. Skate lane was firm, very nice, too. Best conditions I've seen south of the UP this year.

First time there. Groomed yesterday. Lot of skiers today. Tracks were deep, plenty of leaves to slow things down. The heavily skied trails were getting beat up. The trails near the camp sites were the most fun, much less traffic.

Mirror Lake survived yesterday's warmup and is in good condition. It helped that about 1/2 inch of snow fell last night. I classic skied Pioneer, Ishnala, and all the Northwest loops. The classic tracks were deep with the new snow skied in by the skiers making a good layer of powder snow in the tracks. Rarely, there was an icy spot noted on the downhill, especially if this section faced the sun. I did not skate, but the skate deck appeared firm and level, and following grooming of the new snow had a layer of powder snow on the surface. Kudos to groomers for doing an excellent job of packing and grooming these trails!
