[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
This morning the park office said they would attempt to groom the skate deck after the warm weather and recent cold. Arrived at 4:30 and found Fern Dell, Turtleville and Hastings had all been dragged with decent results. Lots of debris, here and there but many stretches skated pretty well. Some small bare spots in the field at the start of Turtleville and many other thin places to step gingerly but all in all fun fast skating with the downhills not for the timid skier. The classic tracks were not touched and are very icy, have lots of debris and in general are in very poor shape. Rock skis will be appreciated.

Skied Mirror and I must say very disappointed in the grooming, or lack of. Based on the fresh snow on the side of the trails it looked like it hadn't been groomed since mid-week. Lots of debris and ruts throughout. It was the third trip up there and unfortunately disappointed in trail conditions each time.

Groomer did not leave a flat surface, there is a trough that is 6' wide and flared up at the outside edges 3". This makes for poor footing when skate skiing with all the ridges and ruts, and therefore not relaxing. But it is skiable with a firm base. I did Ishnala, Pioneer, Hastings, Turtleville and FernDell and the poor surface was the same every where. The classic tracks are in fantastic shape.

The trails were groomed and tracked, sort of. The tracks were mostly in tact, but as is often the case, already littered with leaves and needles. Where the track was good, it was firm and fast. Unfortunately, most of the area was soft with an icy base. The skate deck was very soft with pillowy piles of snow. Get out while you can. Not very good, but darn good enough.

10 inches of new snow! This did make the classic tracks a little soft. There were a few spots where bare ground or roots were exposed. Otherwise good coverage. While I did not skate, likewise the skaters reported soft trails and uneven decks in places. These problems should improve with additional grooming and cold temps. Many thanks to groomers for their hard work of grooming all trails post storm!

Very good skate conditions at Mirror Lake but base is thin in spots under trees and could suffer with warmup and lots of ski traffic. I only said B skis due to numerous road crossings which had some gravel. Nice work by the park staff doing the best with 6-8 inches of snow depth in the woods.

The groomers were wise to not groom over the weekend with the wet snow and fluctuating temperatures. They started grooming on Monday and groomed more today. It looks like most trails are now groomed at least for skating with some tracks for classic. Pioneer and Hastings were perfect today. Fast skiing with hard snow and the downhills are not for the faint of heart due to the hard snow. Kudos to the groomers for making the most of the fluctuating temps! Also, the trails had little debris aside from some oak leaves.

Ungroomed and not skateable. Soft conditions with 3" loose snow. Some debris under trees. Ranger said there were no plans to groom today with temps above freezing. Tracks were filled in with soft snow.

Joanie and I skated Fern Dell, Turtleville and Hastings this morning and they were in good condition. The skating lanes were regroomed just prior to our arrival as they had mentioned the day before (thank you to park staff as it helped make our decision on where to ski today). The skate lanes were a bit uneven (need more snow to fill in), there were some leaves, and a few places with dirt sticking through. That being said, it did not detract from our experience and we had a great time skiing under sunny blue sky!

All trails groomed and tracked and in good condition. Soft on skate groomed in sections but in overall good shape. The track was in good condition however there were oak leaves everywhere. Good conditions.
