Recently groomed and lots of snow. We skied the Big Moose Loop. It looks like Moose Rub is groomed too.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Had some wonderful conditions skiing the Bally Creek Trails over the weekend. Most of the trails were open (including everything between Sundling and Moose Yard / Skijoring Trail as well as FR 158 and Eagle Mountain Overlook / Kirk's Run at least - didn't get to even check some of the others) and had seen light use since recent grooming. The warmer temperatures created some soft spots where the sun hit during the day, and those spots were a little crusty in the morning. Very much enjoyed skiing here, and will be back.

Looks like it was groomed Saturday night, we had fresh tracks on most of the open trails. Tracks were in good condition. Moose Area, Sundling Creek, and trails further out across the lake had not been groomed nor did it look like they have been this year.

Trails are groomed! A few anyway, and the parking lot is freshly plowed. Fresh grooming on sections south and east of the Wildlife Pond; remainder of skijoring trail and bottom of Sundling Loop tracked over with fair to good tracks. Perfect crust on Wildlife Pond, prime conditions for skiing on. FR158 only groomed as far as Oscar's Loop. Remainder of the road well packed by snowmobile and snowed/blown over, now tracked most of the way to Bally Creek. Old tracks just visible on top end of Sundling Loop and east of the road but snowed over too deep. Thanks groomers!

Trails have not been groomed since before Christmas and there is a good 10-12 inches of new snow. There are some skier tracks but probably not worth visiting until trails have been groomed. Parking lot has also not been plowed.

Most if not all trails appear to be open with the exception of the trails that have not been getting groomed in recent years. I skied the Sundling creek loop past the Mooseyard and through the Pine Plantation (which has been logged recently) and took the Bally Creek road back to the parking lot. Most looked like it had been groomed yesterday but some was probably Wednesday as it had Wednesday nights 1-2 inches of snow on the tracks. There's easily 14-16 inches of snow in the woods and a nice base for skiing. Still quite a bit of early season leaves and other organic schmutz but nothing out of the ordinary for this trail which is deep in the woods.
