2022-2023 season
Reports 1 to 9 of 9    Month: Jan | Dec | Nov

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The ski trails at College Street Park were groomed and tracked yesterday. The new grooming provided excellent skiing today. The trails saw heavy use today with many happy Spooner elementary, middle, and high school ski team members and their coaches enjoying the trails. Skiers will find plenty of snow coverage on the trails. The skate lane is level and relatively firm, and the classic track offers a firm track with great control.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
Recently the xc ski trails at Spooner City Park were groomed for skating and a track was set. In addition, the fat bike/snowshoe trails were also groomed and set up very firmly. In the past few days, the trails have gone through a deep freeze, thaw, and then frozen again. The trails are very firm with a dusting of new snow. Skiers should use caution on downhills and corners as the hard conditions will sacrifice some control. The trails are level and offer a good base with good coverage. There is still some debris on the trails as well. The warming house is open and portions of the trails are lit until 9 pm. Happy New Year.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Thursday was very warm, wet snow just shy of slush — the only klister worked from what I had on hand, but once that was on it was a decent outing. Most of the roller loop was clean with a few patches of twigs. Middle school loop had some pine needles at the far end but not as bad as it could be. The Pit had the most twigs down that I saw, best to avoid unless you're on rock skis if any new snow is hiding them. Didn't have time for the high school loop but the open hill looked good. All groomed a few days ago, but if you haven't seen the note the groomer is out of commission and they're fundraising for replacement! Thanks to the crew for keeping things open and clearing storm debris around the holiday!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
After the Spooner area received over a foot of new snow, the 7 kilometers of the College Street Park Trails, were groomed for skating and a new track was set. This was the second pass as the trails were also tracked and groomed on Friday as well. The trails are soft but offer great coverage, are level, and offer great control. The classic track is very deep and has great coverage as well. Lights are on until 9 pm.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skated and the trails were good. The entire 7-kilometer system has good coverage and has been tracked with solid pole plants. The skate lane has about an inch of new snow over a firm base, has some undulations, and some crowning in some areas. The lights are on until 9 pm. Enjoy the good skiing!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Came here after work and forgot it had snowed 2 inches in the morning. It hadn't been groomed yet, but I made do with skate skis. The extra snow added coverage to the trail, which is nice. Skied the middle school loop, back loop and elementary loop.

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Spooner area received 2-3 inches of new snow today. The skate lane was groomed this evening and a new track was set. Some leaves and debris remain here and there. The skate lane is level and should firm up with cold temps. The classic track was moderately deep, and firm and offered good kick and control pole plants are good and coverage is good to very good in most areas. Enjoy!

The Spooner City Park Trails have been recently tracked and groomed for skating after the area received about seven inches of snow. The skate lane is level and relatively firm with a few soft spots. The classic track is firm but shallow with some debris. There has been some blowing as well. B skis are in order. The lights are on until 9.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Most, if not all trails are open (I did not ski them all). Groomed with a track. Thin, you could likely use B skis for the most part. Great to have the trails ready for some early season skiing!
