Trail Base: 2-8" with a few bare spots. Thanks to a solid base, a trace of new snow and cool overnight temperatures, all skating lanes have been re-groomed overnight with good results. The classic tracks are well formed and improved by the light snow. There are some icy spots and a few bare spots, so ski with caution. This may be the last grooming session of the season. Conditions are very good late season skiing. During these spring skiing conditions please avoid skiing on the skate deck if it has softened in the warming temps over the next few days. We want to preserve the groomed trails as long as possible. Best skiing conditions will be in the morning before temps rise. Enjoy this late season bonus!

The trail was still good this morning in a temperature window between icy and soft! Thank you groomers for a fun bonus time. We drove up from the Twin Cities for this! This was my first time skiing here. Pincushion is a beautiful, well designed Nordic trail system. Thanks to all!

Spring bonus at Pincushion. System wide grooming, thanks to Josh and Bill! We skied the greens and Canyon Curves. Beautiful deep track in fresh snow. I skied fishscales and would have preferred my good skins.

Skate deck reset on all trails with the exception of Ole Hyvaa and Hilfiker loops. Conditions are variable with ice patches, standing water and bare spots. Skiing East Overlook is inadvisable due to ice at the bottom of a steep hill with a tight turn. Ski with great caution. The first skier of the morning reported that the deck was very skiable. Classic tracks weren't reset.

Trails are still looking pretty good. Classic skied the Pincushion Mt Loop, Canyon Curves and the Snowman loops. Classic tracks are in good condtion, the skate lane is a little variable on the downhills due to the sunny spots melting more than the shady spots. Used Start Oslo blue kick wax over blue klister. Wax worked well.

Spring skiing - get there before it's warm. Two photos here - one is what the trails look like. The other shows the one place on the trail we encountered water on the trail. Grand Marais got 1.5 inches Wednesday. That snow was fresh on top of the hard packed trail. It slowed us down, which was great for the first 3/4, but slllllow for the last 1/4. Honestly, it was worth the drive from Duluth and if we had left earlier I would have pressed for a second lap. Allow time for baked goods and coffee in town and support those businesses that help support these trails.

Yesterday's cheeky fluff was freshly groomed this morning. Everything skied beautifully. New tracks on Snowman Loops and Overlook Loops were really well set. Tracks that weren't reset were holding up nicely. Deck was outstanding. Should be a really nice day out there.
