Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
After the grooming, I skate skied with the Brainerd Nordic ski team. Conditions were quite good. One bare spot on an uphill that faces south. After my skiing I made two outer loop passes with groomer so Sunday morning skiing should be ok.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed all skate lanes this morning to smooth out surface and break up the icy crust so the State Bound Brainetd Girls team and 5 individual Brainerd Boys can practice for the Staye Meet. More bare spots showing. Morning skiing will be the best at or around the freezing mark.

1.5 inches of snow last Tuesday night has melted down a bit. Groomed all skate lanes before 8 am this morning. Tracks are still good but a bit icy in cooler temps, so did not reset them. Some dirt is showing through here and there due to melting.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Both
[ Good skis ]
We got going around 1:00 pm today and reached about 13k. I skied the outer loop on skate then switched to my classics and did a majority of the inner loops. As of 4:30, the trails were still not groomed, so we had to break most of the trail ourselves. Overall, there was nice cover and despite the un-groomed trails, conditions were not bad. There were a few thin and slushy spots where there was more sun, but these spots are easy to avoid. Kick wax wasn’t easy to get right at first, but we are able to find a good combo of glide and stride eventually. Overall, a nice sunny and warm day for a ski!

2+ inches of snow Sunday. Groomed all trails before temps reached 30 degrees. I did two passes on skate lanes and re-set all tracks. Excellent conditions!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The re-grooming done on Friday was holding up very well on Saturday. (Thanks Bryan!) Striding tracks were solid, and skating deck looked good. There was some debris on the tracks (mostly leaves; a few dirty patches), but overall the trail was in good shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
1/2 inch of snow Thursday. Reset track on inner classic segments. Fair results due to cold and very firm deck. Groomed all skate lanes and produced nice corduroy with the light snow. Ripped up the outer loop track and reset it with good results.

Afternoon
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Re-groomed the outer loop skating lane in 7 degree temp. The small, frozen snow clods did not smooth out as well as I liked when the cutting knives were too deep, so I raised them to just skim the surface and is was better. I covered, with snow, the two exposed rocks in the track that were mentioned in a previous report. Back to good skis.
