Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails are back to awesome conditions at Northwood with the few inches of snow this past weekend. Classic tracks are pretty perfect, and nearly all of the debris is gone. Outside pole plants are soft occasionally throughout, but that's a picky complaint. Really great trails in awesome shape!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails were quite icy after Sunday's warm day. It looks like perhaps the short-cut was groomed and re-tracked, and some of the other trails were re-rolled since Sunday, but the track had not been re-set on most of the system. There is a bit of debris scattered throughout, especially in the segments of pine. I'd be cautious using good skis for now. Nice and fast, however.

The groomer was heading out to groom all trails, both classic and skate. He said the equipment was all over at CAVOC for the Hodag Challenge this weekend, so they hadn't groomed the 6+" yet.

No grooming yet as of Saturday afternoon but still great to be out in the woods in the fresh snow! Several others had skied before us so we followed their tracks on the main loop. The snow was light and powdery, so breaking trail was not too difficult.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
They were grooming when I was skiing between 4:30-5:30, so there was nice fresh corduroy. If you can get out and enjoy before the next snowfall, you'll find fresh grooming here! Trails are in really good shape.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails and the classic track are in good shape--firm and well-groomed. All trails are groomed and open except for Judy's Vista. There are a few oak leaves scattered throughout, and some seeds/other trail debris that are heavy in spots, but avoidable.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
All trails except Judy's Vista are open and groomed for both skate and classic skiers. I cut all new tracks and combed all the skate lanes this afternoon and then skied the base loop, Cooks Run and the Outback trail. The tracks and the pole plants were all firm. And the woods were beautiful with all the snow on the trees. I even saw a couple of deer. What a great afternoon.

I was pleasantly surprised to see grooming in progress when I arrived around 3:30 after 2-3" of snow this morning, and skiers had made nice tracks where the track hadn't been set yet. The classic track was a little soft but already setting up quite nicely. Coverage is excellent, didn't come across any tree debris whatsoever. This is a very nice trail system--gently rolling through the woods, with not more than a kilometer or two on actual golf course fairways. Great day!

First of all calling this a "Golf Course" trail is kind of crazy. It's 90% lovely wooded trail that happens to use the golf course for parking/access. Conditions on Monday, during a drizzle and before about 5" new snow were good. Surface was hard and a bit icy after the warmer temps on Sunday. Groomers have worked very hard to clear down trees and get the trail open and groomed. I appreciated the opportunity to have a very pleasant ski close to home. I skied classic and the tracks were decent but had suffered a bit from weather changes. The skate deck was a little rough in places but that is to be expected when the season started with 20" snow accumulated before any grooming could be done. I'd bet on great conditions after the next grooming. Everything is open except one short bit that crosses a swamp.
