[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
When I called the park for a trail report, I was told they were only able to pack and track Mill Creek before the groomer broke down. Some of the other trails had been packed only but no track. When I arrived at the Cox Hollow Lake parking lot, two skiers were just coming off the Mill Creek trail. They complained it was icy, not fun. Therefore, I headed out on the Lost Canyon Trail out to Stephens Falls and back with my Fischer Classic No-wax skis. The trail had been packed but not tracked. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was considering there was no track. It was obvious many others had been on the trail before me. However, there was still no defined track as the trail was hard packed. That actually made for very good control on the downhills. All things considered, I would rate the trail fair to good. It was definitely skiable and proved to be a very worthwhile outing. Lack of tracks made things slow but still fun. When I returned to the parking lot, I decided to check out the Lakeview Trail. It was rough and not fun. I started up the Mill Creek trail but turned around quickly as it was not tracked on the uphill.
