Groomed in the latest snow and with the cold temperatures should set up beautifully! Come out and enjoy northwoods skiing at it's best.

Lovely narrow classic trail system with lots of snow. We did the outer loop (about 9 K). Some debris in the trail and lots of animal tracks. Mostly rolling trail with a few sneaky hills, especially at beginning and end - need to take one ski out of the track to snowplow. Gorgeous day!

Another wonderful day of grooming! Penokee received 4 inches of Lake effect snow this week. The snow groomed up nicely with the cold temperatures, and tracks were solid when I left the trail head. Get out there and enjoy the quiet, non-crowded trail, you won’t be disappointed.

Groomed all loops at Penokee this morning. There was about 2-3 inches of new snow since it was groomed last week. The tracks look excellent. It was beautiful with a fresh coating of snow in the trees.

Penokee has been fully groomed! There was about 6 new inches of snow from the weekend storm that I packed down with the snowmobile, and then groomed and set tracks with the groomer. The tracks looked great, and it was a nice day of grooming out there. There are a couple of places where the trail is still uneven from the rain/melt we had in December, but it's mostly been smoothed out. Give this trail a try, and you won't be disappointed!

I packed all of the loops at Penokee today with the snowmobile. I was not able to set tracks because there are 6 different areas that have the ground exposed and standing/running water over the trail. We'll need these areas to freeze up and get some snow on them before we can run the groomer through them. I will update after the trail has been groomed.

It's always an adventure grooming Penokee! There is more than 3 feet of snow out there. The trail was packed last week, and I repacked it today before grooming. The base is still pretty soft. There are 3 areas that have natural springs on the trail, and they have not froze down yet, so there is water and some ground exposed. The first area is in the beginning after you go up the first hill, and then the other two are on the return about 1 Km from the parking lot. The areas are easy to see and easy enough to get around. The tracks look great, and should firm up tonight. Be careful with hard pole plants, there are some soft areas out there yet. Hope you can get out and enjoy Penokee trails!

Penokee trails received another 8 inches of snow over the weekend. The trail was packed and all trees were cleared Tuesday. Please check back for grooming updates, as we did not groom the trail yet.

Penokee trail has not been groomed yet. The Forest Service went out today to start packing the trail, and encountered several trees down. Part of the trail is packed and cleared. We will work on getting the trail opened up next week. Thank you for your patience.

Penokee trails received several feet of snow during the week of Thanksgiving. The trailhead parking lot has not been plowed yet, but will hopefully get plowed today. The Forest Service will be working to get the trails packed and groomed. This is a lot of snow to deal with at once, and we appreciate your patience while we work to get the trail in tip top shape for skiing. We will post updates as soon as we are done grooming.
