The wind from the past week made for some interesting trail conditions. Many trail segments were so blown in that it was hard to see where the packed trail even was! On the bright side, this next week should be warm and sunny with light winds. Happy skiing everyone!

Started out chilly today but wow that sunshine keeps ya warm. The snow was beautiful today. Very glittery. And set deep, solid tracks. Should be great skiing out there.

Bird Lake is freshly packed and tracked as of this morning. There are still a few bumpy areas throughout the trail system, but it's looking much better!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied both both ends of trails, as there are two parking areas. The one closest to Hoyt Lake is marked green easy on the map but is actually blue diamond on the trail. Trails were packed but had not been groomed tracks for some time. It was tough going, trails are quite narrow, lots of twigs and even a log frozen in middle of a downhill piece. Its beautiful land and I struggled to ski any distance, barely managed 4 miles.

The entire trial is now set with tracks! Ideally mother nature will give us more snow to build a better base, but for now this works wonders!

All segments east of intersection point 3 are freshly packed. Tracks are set only within the 3.6km loop by intersection 9. The game plan is to get out and track the rest of trail Monday, now that we have just enough snow. Otherwise, get outside and enjoy the weekend!

[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Although the trail could use some additional snowfall, track is set along the lake loop (3.6km loop at intersection point #9). It's still rough going out there, so I would recommend using either rock skis or B skis. Lets hope for a nice snowfall so the entire trail can get groomed! Safe skiing!

[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
I was able to get out this morning and pack down the lake loop (~2.6 miles) off of the Bird Lake Trailhead. The trail is considerably rocky and we will need a decent amount of snow before we can pack the rest of the trail and lay track. I highly recommend wearing rock skis if you decide to hit this trail. I also noticed a lot of fox tracks on and along the trail, so keep watch and maybe you'll get lucky enough to see one!
