[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Outer perimeter trails have iced downhills and frozen bumpy slush in low areas tho circling the center prairie is possible with double poling, stubbornness and no wax skis on old track. Base is still thick with some bare spots so hitting the right temp window might bring ‘just skiable conditions’ by dodging biggest hiker tracks.

City groomed it on 2/17 according to city website. Walkers hadn't stepped on the solid tracks. Downhills had a leaf or three in the tracks, and the groomer had set tracks through the hairpin turn where the Lake Loop starts to parallel Lake Monona. These are tiny quibbles - best conditions I've seen in over 40 years of skiing Turville.

The trails at Turville Point were gorgeous at noon. Untouched by hikers, smooth, fresh snow. The wind off the lake on the east side of the point had blown snow over the tracks and was biting, but if you power through that section, the trees protect from the wind on the rest of the trails.

Beautiful and empty at 4 p.m. today. Only skier-made tracks. Had all the trails to ourselves. Enjoy it before the footprints return.

Immaculate, beautiful freshly groomed classic tracks nearly brought tears to my eyes. Ski Madison's hidden urban gem with woods, rolling hills, prairie and views of Lake Mendota and the Capitol when you can, and optimally before a few of the walkers or snow shoers mess up the 3.2 km of ski tracks. Thank you expert groomers!

Snow conditions are excellent and all 3.4 km of trails newly rolled. Easy and moderate trails freshly tracked at 5pm. More difficult outside loop trail yet to be tracked (may be scheduled next?). Less than a handful of skiers had been on any of the trails.

Best conditions in memory on this gem in downtown Madison. Deep set track and firm. Walkers always as issue here so grab while you can.

All loops freshly rolled today, no bare spots, but not tracked. Downhills with turns may quickly become fast, smooth, or icy (again). Could use more signage to discourage walking in ski tracks. Pleasant woodland loops with lake and State Capitol views make park a gem. Proximity to downtown and popularity of outdoor hiking along lake during Covid has (understandably) increased ratio of walkers to skiers compared to previous years. Bring extra patience for diverse users to optimize your enjoyment.

City has not groomed, but there were solid skier-laid tracks. Good snow cover (4-6") with no bare spots. We saw 5-6 small parties while our family of four took a couple laps. Enjoy!
