[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied here on Friday afternoon. Conditions were much improved compared to earlier reports, thanks to the new snowfall the night before. Full coverage, no ice anywhere on the trails, virtually no debris. However, even though the trails were clearly regroomed after the snowfall, the classic tracks were shallow to non-existent in many areas due to the wind blowing the snow into them. The best areas were on the west side, close to the trees, especially the long spur to the south. Skate deck, while a little on the soft side in many places, was more enjoyable and consistent.

Snow is better than it was two days ago. Less ice. Classic tracks are still shallow almost everywhere and completely missing on about 5%. Skate deck is nice everywhere. The worst conditions exist for about 300 meters immediately east of the clubhouse -- if you start off in that direction, don't give up! It gets better everywhere else. All of the classic tracks are single-lane, which is unusual. If it gets busy this weekend, and no additional grooming occurs, traffic might be an issue for striders.

Complete coverage, but the tracks are thin and icy. About 5% lacks tracks completely -- either they were never set, or they've been blown over. Skate deck is in fine shape everywhere, but also hard. Skied the whole complex, and we were the only two people there the entire time.

Classic skied this afternoon. The golf course had a thin track in most places. There was some ice, but not too much. Skating looked good too.

Lots of people out which was good to see! All trails groomed and packed with full coverage - nice wide trails for skating. However there was significant ice in spots, so definitely recommend B skis. With it being so open, be prepared for wind!

Classic skied 10 miles. Started with the loop at Arrowhead. It was decent but the tracks deteriorated in spots. I then hit Herrick Lake next door and that about the same. All in all, it was well worth it. Tons of people out today which is good to see. Glad to be back!

First ski on natural snow this season so there's that. But the snow fell so moist that the groomed trail is now is mixture of decent snow and slabs of ice. A little sketchy to be very honest. But again it's natural snow in Illinois so let's take it as is... overall, classic off the groomed trail was better, now that the temps have cooled down and the snow dried out. Watch for dirt or asphalt too! Let's hope tomorrow brings more snow and drier snow...
