Trail Reports

2019-2020 season
Reports 1 to 3 of 3    Month: Feb | Jan

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I came out planning on doing some relaxing classical loops but there was no track set even though there appears to be enough snow. The skate deck was in excellent condition and I wish I'd brought mine.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skated as the sun went down. Good hard conditions, only a bit of ice on the downhill turns, not dangerous. Could use some grooming to scrape and make edging better. The connector trail to Blackhawk was pretty raw looking and narrower than in the past. Some beginning classic skiers seemed to be getting grip - probably waxless skis. Great to have snow!

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The groomer was being loaded up as I arrived at 2PM. The skate deck was perfect throughout the main loops. There was a double classical track that was a little shallow as well, I only encountered 3 bare spots in the usual places underneath the pine trees. The area north of the loop that goes up and down the valleys was not open and the segment that runs along Blackhawk Drive was groomed for skating only. The trail down to Blackhawk Ridge was pretty rough and had numerous branches some over waist high sticking up and at the bottom rather thick. I could ski around them or straddle them, some were thick and tall enough that I wouldn't chance skiing over them. I've never seen this here before and I've been skiing here since it opened. On top great skiing given the exposure to wind and snow depth.
