Rolled 4-5 inches tonight. It skied well, with no exposed sections, although the new trail still has lumps.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied mid-afternoon with temps hitting the upper 20s. Such a beautiful trail system along parts of Rice Creek, and truly old school skiing. Great variety of terrain, and they've made a number of improvements to the layout, along with some brand new signage. Saw seven other skiers out! Conditions varied, most of it pretty thin but skiable. Definitely rock skis, but a good base hopefully for the season. Look forward to skiing these more as the snow depth increases.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
I skate skied on Saturday. The baseball field and adjacent field were in good condition. The hills were doable but there were spots that you may have needed to walk over if don't have expertise. I want to mention that I forgot my ski poles in the small parking lot on Saturday. I noticed today (Tuesday) they were missing and I drove back there, and the poles were leaning on a tree. This reminded me that in tough times, there are very sweet, kind and generous people out there. Someone could have thought selfishly and taken them, but they didn't. I will never forget this, and thank you to the kind soul that saved my poles.

Been rolled - thanks. Did the green loop a couple of times, some grass, rocks. Glad to be out and there was a number of others out this Saturday morning.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
First ski of the season and first time on these trails, and glad I went out. I went at night but even with that was able to avoid most of the area with debris. A bit bumpy in the woods, but I think in daytime it'd be easy to avoid the areas that would damage your skis. Thank you to the groomers.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
The new (green) section of the trail was rolled this morning. Lots of sticks, leaves, and dirt patches are showing, and the trail is lumpy in spots. But it skied in wonderfully with a nice amount of cushion and speed. We'll be rolling the remainder of the trails tonight. Enjoy the early season gift!

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
There's a skier track through the woods, although the snow is shallow and clumpy with the ground not yet frozen in many places. Recommended only for the diehards. We may try to roll or groom on Thursday if there's sufficient snow and low enough temps.
New this year at Irondale Trails: 1. Around a kilometer of added trails, eliminating the prior two-way section 2. Trail signage courtesy of an Eagle Scout on the high school team.
