Beautiful ski this afternoon, 36F degrees and partly cloudy. The trail had 100% firm coverage, even across the walking path. Some oak leaves and sticks, but we did our best to move them off the trail on our way around. Good glide and grip on no-wax skis. No set tracks but no ruts either, just a firm flat base.

Enjoying the change to daylight savings time, getting out to ski at 6 pm with sun up still! Saw six other skiers out, a record for Irondale trail system. Great conditions, the skate deck was fast but not hardpacked and only a few hills had just a little glazing from the sun. Such a fantastic little trail system in the north metro, and great to see people out using it!

The 3km loop is in great shape. It's starting to get firmer with only a few pole plants breaking the skate deck. Fun, zippy ski in the sun.

As one would expect the trails are completely covered and in good condition. The classic tracks are set but a bit washed out after a weekend of skiing. The skate deck was nicely set and even. The section of trail on the fields directly behind the high school was even and good. There are two downsides 1) the lack of compacting of the deck. My right side pole would occasionally bottom out, 2) due to wind there were sections blown in, a small price to pay for terrific conditions.

Skied late morning -- fantastic conditions, best ever! Skate lane was awesome, firm but soft enough for really nice pushoff and velvety glide. Classic tracks set throughout the trail system too. Such a gorgeous place to ski, and wonderful resource for the north metro! Thanks to the volunteers. Excited to come back and ski under their new lights!

The Irondale trails have 2 crossings of an asphalt trail. Usually the county lifts the plow blade on the two crossings. Both crossings were plowed to the asphalt today. We hope to have both crossings covered with snow later today - make them safe for skiing. Until they are covered please use care - probably need to take skis off to make crossings.
