Night
Firsthand: Classic
[ Rock skis ]
There are two kinds of skiers: those that jump on the opportunity to ski in April and those that don't like icing/clumping. It was great to get out one more time this season, marking the 6th month Irondale trails have been skiable this season!

Excellent skiing in the north metro gem yesterday afternoon for some pre-Birkie pick-ups. The woods(2.35k) loops had plenty of wind protection and nicely set-up skate deck. I didn't venture up to the open fields since it was windblown and there was plenty to ski in the woods. The path intersections were easy to ski over. I saw about a dozen skiers out there around 3:30. Classic tracks were set. Thanks for keeping the system maintained!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed this morning after last night's little gift of about an inch of snow. Classic tracks reset. Ramsey County hadn't been by yet to plow the asphalt path so take care at the two path crossings as they may have plowed them up by the time you are skiing. Wind was filling in the tracks a little on the field. Enjoy it.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skate deck is freshly groomed and should ski well. The field is pretty windy at this point, so today I would suggest just staying in the woods. Didn't reset the classic tracks as with the minimal snow cover I didn't think I couldn't make them any better. They exist and are skiable, but washed out in some places.

Grooming

Freshly groomed and tracks reset. And to top it off the oak leaves are almost non-existent (at least for a little while).

Skated with the high school team this afternoon. The deck was very hard and fast (we clocked a handful of 3 min/mile pace intervals). There were no outright ice patches, although caution should be executed on the hairpin turns. Trails and asphalt crossings are still completely covered, with a few dirty spots. Big thanks to chief groomer Gary!

This may be as good as the snow gets. Get out there in the sunshine and enjoy. Skate deck regroomed and track reset this morning.

Fast enough to be technically challenging, but with a half-inch of fresh powder, not too fast. Firm skate deck with set tracks. Also, well visited on this holiday.

Fresh groomed this morning for skate and classic. Looked a little soft for skate but classic was great. Field up by school was very windy and blowing.
