Machine-grooming by DuPage FPD on regular basis when sufficient snow is available. Most trails are double-tracked with a narrow skating lane between. Ski rentals are available at Arrowhead Golf Course on the east side.

Skied the Danada-Herrick Lake Regional Trail and included the Meadowlark and Bluebird segments. Classic track in very good condition after recent light snow.

Skied for the first time at Herrick Lake and came away impressed. I did not know this trail network was groomed. Trail was in good shape with double classic track and sufficient, albeit a bit narrow, space for skate skiing in the middle. The regional trail is not groomed for skating. I used my B skis but only because I was scouting the area. Will return and use good skis, especially with recent snow!

Plenty of new snow from the morning. No recent grooming but the classic tracks were deep and well traveled. That means great glide (polar glide wax and green kick wax). Started with falling snow, ended with clear sky and a beautiful sunset. Frigid, but winter at its finest.

Trail was groomed but many walkers on trail. The section I skied had very good snow cover so the footprints didn't cause chunks in the skating lane. Better grooming next door at Arrowhead but it's a wide open golf course so was a bit windy.

Not yet groomed. Walkers are using the tracks because the snow is deep, causing the tracks to be quite torn up and frustrating. Alternatively use Arrowhead Golf course - adjacent.

Full coverage and full grooming of all trails at Herrick Lake all the way to Danada forest preserve. Classic track and skate deck were set, a bit soft still. I skied shortly before sunset Wednesday and the skate deck had already been heavily trampled by pedestrians. Which, I think, in a suburban park with bare ground during an average of 50 weeks per year is impossible to avoid. Easy to get into the Arrowhead golf course from there, where there is also a fully set and wide skate deck. Spoiled.

Ungroomed. Very icy. Needs more snow. Plenty of hikers and dogs. We were amatuers and had a rough time skate skiing but classic wasn't too bad.
