Groomed north Suomi this evening. Not a lot of fresh snow but finally enough to set a new track. Lots of animal tracks on the trails, saw a few deer nibbling on brush. That Spruce Island loop has to be some of the best scenery in the northland!

Skied South Suomi, track in great condition. Bright sun, fun hills, perfect snow. A few messy corners, but to be expected at this well used trail. Still we never saw another skier. First time at Suomi and I fell in love.

Groomed the South Suomi trails, up to the north Suomi parking lot and south around the Amen Lake trails. About 3 inches of fresh snow, a little more at the south end and a little less at the north end.

Another 2" fresh snow since grooming earlier this week. A few skiers before me on part of the south trail. Lots of fresh wildlife tracks, but did not see any. Swix Extra Blue was ok for the skied in tracks, but slipping when I had to break trail in the 2" fresh snow. Storm blowing in from the south.

Pure skiing perfection at Suomi Hills today thanks to the track setters! Great job! Skied from the South lot to North loop, beautiful day, perfect skiing temps!

North Suomi all trails groomed and track set. Deep snow, had to go twice without the groomer to pack. Groomer stuck in a number of places, so use caution while going around Spruce Island Lake loop. Areas closer to the North Parking lot should be good skiing on New Years.

Groomed south soumi up to the north lot. Trouble with the track setter, so was unable to lift the track at the normal spots. Fixed for next time. The parking lots should be plowed by the end of the day (truck problems).

Wonderful conditions with a bounty of snow. These trails are among the best in the state; extensive, technically challenging, and intimate with forest and remote lakes. Some trails are more moderate in challenge especially the South Trails. Highly recommended.
