Trail Reports

2019-2020 season
Reports 1 to 8 of 8    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec
Saturday, February 1, 2020
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trail was in good condition this afternoon. The tracks were holding up really well despite the warm temps. Hopefully everything holds up. The only issue spot is where someone decided to snowmobile on the trail. Luckily they did not do that much damage, but it is still frustrating.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The golf course trail was in good condition despite the warmer temperatures on Saturday. The tracks were a little glazed in spots, but we firm and I had no issues with kick (using kick wax). Probably the best classic day I have had on the trail this season so far. The Hanscom Lake Trail was still only rolled and not groomed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The ski trail is holding up, but it could really use some fresh snow. The trail base is hard and almost icy in spots with lots of tree debris around the course. The classic tracks are holding up, but getting a little thin in places and filled with the debris. It won't take much snow to bring the conditions back up.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The trail was in very good condition, especially considering it was raining a week ago. The skate deck was firm and the tracks looked to be in good shape. Good coverage everywhere. The Hanscom trail was rolled but not groomed yet (equipment issues). It is still skiable though if you do not need the tracks.

Morning
Firsthand: Both Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The golf course trail was in surprising good condition this morning for the club's annual ski clinic, but was getting a little rough as the rain continued. As long as we get some new snow, the trail should hold up fine. It sounds like the plan is to send the grooming teams out Wednesday after this system has blown through.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Skied at Voyager Village for the first time this season today. Good snow coverage throughout but it doesn't appear that they are doing much grooming of the trails. Icy conditions. There was a previous skate skiers tracks that have iced in with a fairly deep track so I unfortunately spent most of my skiing trying to avoid these tracks so my ski wouldn't fall into them. Just nice to be out!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the golf course and Hanscome trail today. Both trails were in good condition and had great coverage. The usual thin spots under the big trees had no open spots. The skate deck was still a little soft, but should set up nicely with the weather. The tracks looked great.
