Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The portions of the trail accessible from the picnic shelter parking lot (at the south end of the park) plus the connecting Lone Rock trails were in excellent condition. The trail along Empire Lake and from the southern trail segments to the northern trail segments (where the camper cabins are located) are closed for maintenance equipment access. It was 24 degrees at roughly 2:00 start. I used Blue Klister.
This was one of my best skis of the season. Met a friend who had stepped-bottomed, no-wax skis. He ended up doing a lot more work than I did. My blue Klister waxed skis were perfect for the conditions - excellent kick and glide. We did the entire southeast perimeter within Whitetail Woods plus the Farm and Lone Rock loops of the Lone Rock trail - 8.5 miles in all. All were perfectly dual-tracked. There were dirt or gravel bleed thru on isolated portions of the Lone Rock loop (usually easily avoidable by moving to other track) and the non-tracked downhills throughout all the trails were pretty hard corduroy but those are really minor complaints given the no-effort skiing throughout & the multiple times I got to double pole with single ski kicks. Had to constrain myself and stop to allow my companion to catch up every time. But it was nice to slow down from my usual faster pace when I solo ski.

Great snow and well groomed trails. This park is more open then Lebanon Hills so there isn't the amount of leaf litter in the tracks. Good skiing.
