Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
The hospital loops were freshly groomed, and all of that recent snowfall made the pine loop beautiful. The tracks were deep, and nothing was icy. We also went over and did the hilly loop, which was also in great condition. Solid tracks down and up the hills. Perfect in the sun and with no wind.

Fine shelter from cruel afternoon winds. Lovely scenery. Very nice double track, classic only system.

I skied from the north end, down to the clearcut loop and back, including the beaver/ox loop. The tracks are a little ragged from ski traffic and to a lesser extent, from deer tracks. On the steep hill at the end of the beaver loop, the tracks are plowed away. I give it a 6.

Beautiful grooming on these lovely trails. We caught the sunset and moonlight. The track was deep and recently groomed. Perfect to get out of the wind on a cold night. Thanks groomers!

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I skied 4 of the 7 loops. The trail has been used a lot since the last grooming. The tracks are somewhat beat-up, but still easily skiable and there's not many leaves and twigs, so I give it a 7.

I skied 4 of the 7 loops. All were double-tracked and the tracks were well-formed except on sharp turns. There were some leaves, needles, twigs, etc. - more than usual. I give it a 7; it would be 9 except for the forest litter.

I did the Pine, Clear Cut, Beaver Pond, and Ox loops. All were well-groomed (double-tracked) and in excellent condition with very few leaves or twigs. Even the pine groves were clean! The snow was soft enough to give good grip on the uphills, but the flats and downhills were a little slow. I give it a 9.

The Big Ox loop is temporarily closed due to ATV rutting and damaging the snow surface which made the trail unsafe for cross country skis. All other trails are getting thin, due to warm temps. Be careful, be safe.

Hospital Trails were groomed by HASTA groomer staring at 5:00 am, today. Double tracks set everywhere. Some corners were washed out by late afternoon. Reminder to ski Ox trail counter clockwise. I skied most all the trails from 2:30 till 5:00 with Scott, the groomer. A few tracks had a few spots of needles showing. I skied on my best racing skis, but there may be a few thin spots.
