Perfect conditions. I started as the grooming was finished. Great timing, the best ski of the year. Pioneer was one of the best tracks throughout the year.

What a beautiful ski today! Thanks Don for your awesome grooming this ski season. You have made the Pioneer Trails a premier cross country trail system. Today’s late season skiing was excellent! Come out and ski before the season ends.

Grooming

All trails were tracked and a very nice skate lane is setting up. Excellent conditions. Today will be the last of the grooming for this season at Pioneer Creek. Get out and ski early to take advantage of these trail conditions while thy last!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
With all the foot traffic near the trail head I had cut and reset the track all the way down the power lines. All other tracks were left alone as they're in very good shape yet. All skate lanes were gone over with a very firm base to work with. The entire system is just absolutely beautiful with very minor tree debris to worry about at this time. With the cold front now behind us conditions are ideal to get out and enjoy these beautiful trails as well as the many trail systems in our surrounding area. Get out and ski!

The classic trails were great. Considering how slow skiing has been the last week, today was much better. Good speed on the stride. The skate lane was abused by walkers with dogs for the first section. After that the skating looked fine.

Sub zero with fresh snow made for limited glide, but I had a great time on my first visit to these trails. The grooming was great... Deep tracks and a wide skate deck. Mostly wooded trails with some lovely white pines appreciated on a cold day.

Grooming

I was out today cutting and setting tracks on most of the system. Everything is setting up nicely and tomorrow I plan to be out setting tracks on the big loop. It's nice to get the snow but just a lot of extra work involved for grooming when getting this much at one time. Stay warm!

The trail is groomed. No classic lanes set. The trail is pristine. Maybe two skiers have used the trail. I had more layers on today than I can remember.

All trails were rolled and compacted today. With this being a county system maintained M-F, nothing will be groomed until Monday morning. Enjoy the weekend.
