Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Strided all the trails in the early afternoon. Trails had been groomed and tracked this morning. Classic track was in excellent condition and the skate lane was good, with some uneven areas from previous windblown snow. Trail along the lake was even in good shape. This is a better classic than skate trail because there are narrow areas that are hard to negotiate while skating, without wrecking the track.

Still a pretty decent skate deck if you’re willing to dodge some debris. The corduroy is gone but it has held up ok to use.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The trails were great fun today! The skate deck was freshly groomed, firm and flat. The west loop was in great shape, the middle loop was great except for some grass coming through on one segment, and the east loop near the lake was probably the sketchiest of the 3 (rock skis recommended here or just take your skis off in a spot or two). Most hazards were easily avoidable. Looks like the groomers tried setting tracks for a few hundred meters, but it was too thin. Might be the best place around for skating right now depending on how well it holds up to use. It looked like there were several sets of hiker and dog footprints on the groomed trails, so please inform hikers of the “no hiking” signs if you see anyone.

Freshly groomed for skating this morning and in pretty good condition. Some brush poking through and some thin spots, but we still had a fun ski.
