Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The temp was about 35°.The firm skate track is in good shape, and the striding lanes are in place. Being in the shade, the trails ought to hold up pretty well. Some of the debris is starting to show as it warms up, but my skis glided over the top no problem.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Trails are groomed. Set the classic tracks and they are adequate but there are a good number places where the snow is thinning so you will have work your way around them. The skate deck is adequate in most places. Similar to the classic tracks, you will have to work your way around some thin and bare spots. You can modify some of the loops to stay on better snow.

The trail had about 1 inch of new snow a couple days ago so it's got a great surface. The deck is good and flat and easy to hold an edge. In the far back in the hilly section of the plantation, there's one hill that's Birkie training worthy. I've been coming here a lot and have lately been parking back at the intersection of Cumberland and 6th Avenue, and from there you can step right onto the trail, and therefore skip the open areas by the park.

All trails are open but there are some thin and bare areas near the highway and near the trail entrance. The back loop has the best snow coverage. The classic are there but have not been groomed since last Friday. Debris isn't too bad. Still good skiing to be had.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
All trails are open but fire lanes 3 and 4 on the first loop have bare areas. The back loop is in better shape and classic tracks are still there but some places are less than 50% depth. Some trail debris but overall not bad. The areas by the highway are the thinnest. Also by the trail entry it would be best to walk around the shelter to get to cleaner snow to protect your skis if you don't have rock skis. Once you get to the woods it should be a good day skiing.

Sunny and 9°, a beautiful day. My skis had excellent glide on the somewhat sugary snow. The skate deck was groomed this morning. Very good edging on skates. Very little debris in the tracks or on the skate deck. Once again, gravel by the building, so walk out and down along the baseball field fence before you put on your skis. The areas of thin snow before you enter the woods will have to be dealt with, but they're probably no more than 100 feet long.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
I have never hit a rock out on the trails, but there is gravel that they groomed over by the building. To avoid this simply walk past the building and then put your skis on. There are some bare spots as you ski back to the woods along the freeway fence. Once you get into the woods, they have a very good base with the track set and a flat skate deck. It's all done with snowmobiles so it's not pisten bully, but very skiable.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
We ventured 45 minutes north in search of set classic tracks. Almost everything was tracked mid week with barely enough snow to do it. Lots of debris but 0 degree temps allowed good performance with kick wax. The usual thin places were just that but not overly problematic. Ran into groomer Jim at the end of our ski and thanked him for all he does here. He was skating which looked like it would be better if it was warmer. Lots of spindrift in the open areas which actually aided the classic tracks coverage. Skied most everything with some repeats of best sections. Had a good ski and glad we came.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
All trails are open and much of it is in very good shape. As always there are the thin spots are near the highway and a couple thin spots in a couple other locations. Photo shows what the thin spots look like. The rest is in very good condition.

Classic skied all the trails. The track is all in place. There's about an inch of snow on the trails that hasn't been groomed in yet. Somebody skated all, I'm sure it was not ideal for skating, but they seem to do OK. The skate deck is all in place. Overall, in great shape. The usual bare spots as you head back to the loops from the parking area along the freeway, but easily crossed over.
