The rolling hills of the Battle Lake Recreation Area cross-country ski trails, located approximately two miles south of Northome on Hwy. 71 are groomed and ready for winter skiing. Ski the 4.6 loop trail or opt for the shorter 1.8 loop. Stop at the shelters along the trail, have a snack, rest and enjoy the quiet of the forest. The access to the trail system is plowed with plenty of off-road parking.
