Classic tracks well set with good glide; skate deck, too narrow to skate. Good classic skiing on old railroad tracks with some gently rolling terrain for three miles to the eastern terminus, and relatively flat and scenic skiing west from Bessemer to Ironwood. Some roadways to be crossed.

Skate skied the Iron Belle trail from Ramsay to Ironwood (Walmart) and back. Can’t say enough good things about it. It was awesome. Thank you to whomever groomed.

The Iron Belle Trail is groomed for skiing from Lake Road in Ironwood to Ramsay, MI. The trail is quite flat between Ironwood and Bessemer. From Bessemer to Ramsay, there are gently rolling hills. Classic track was just a hair soft near Ironwood, and firm toward Bessemer. Pole plants were good throughout. Skate lane looks a bit narrow and soft, but it seems like most people using this trail are striding. What a cool idea of a ski trail connecting the communities of the Gogebic Range. I'm glad it's becoming a reality!

Iron Belle Trail was great for classic. Started at the Bessemer trailhead with plenty of parking. Set tracks were solid. Some folks skating. Flat terrain makes for a good workout.

Wow! It's thrilling to see this trail groomed for skiing from Ironwood to Ramsay. Conditions 5k on either side of Bessemer are pretty darn good. As the trail nears Ironwood, a couple inches of snow have fallen on the classic track since the last grooming, and it has been skied in. There were 1-2 very short sections of snowmobile damage, where the tracks were obliterated, near Ironwood. Nice work by the local volunteer groomers for getting this done! If you want to avoid the crowds at other local trails, this is the place!
