Notes

A great hilly trail system completely in the woods. Because of the woods, the trails hold their snow better than most.

Just enough snow to ski on. I was using my wood skis with Swix V 40 kick wax. Quite a few bare spots. but still nice to be able on skis on such a beautiful day! Might be better to use waxless skis if you have them.

Trails were good. Tracks a little shallow but not full of leaves...yet. Get out there and have a blast.

Some of the best grooming I've seen on this trail. It was flat and wide today, sometimes the trail can be uneven. Some oak leaves on the trail, as usual. Get out there!

Conditions were good at Terrace Oaks. Some leaf and tree litter as you might expect, but not too bad considering the winds we have had. Tracks well defined throughout, a little shallow in spots and some minor drifting in the more open areas. Looks like at least the skating lane had been regroomed recently. I would take your waxless skis if you classic, but the leaves didn't seem quite as "grabby" as usual.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Trails are groomed but lots of debris on them due to strong winds. Recommend B skis as the trails conditions degraded with debris between 4 and 6 pm today.

Skated the outer loop late afternoon Wednesday. There was a layer of new and fairly abrasive snow on top of the most recent grooming, making it a bit soft. Excellent coverage along the entire trail. I used good skis with no problems. There was some scattered leaf debris but not enough to slow me down. Classic tracks looked good, medium depth and solid.

Freshly groomed in this morning by City of Burnsville Parks Department. Groomed very wide to accommodate single classic track and wide skate-ski lane. Soft, but beautiful, conditions with new snow.

Good conditions in the morning. Snow appeared to be freshly groomed, with few leaves in the tracks. Our below-freezing wax worked well at first but became less effective at the end. The park is less shaded after the renovation, so there will be more sun and increasing temperatures.

Wow. What a difference a couple years makes. I remembered oak as being a thick forest. Now that it's an oak savannah much more open. Trails are in great shape. There are footprints across much of the skate deck but the snow is really well packed so the prints should not be an issue. Well set classic tracks.

Good conditions at Terrace Oaks. Well defined, firm tracks throughout. A little glazed in the open areas, but some loose snow coverage in most areas. Leaves are not a problem. Skating lane looked OK, not recently groomed. A fair amount of walker damage in the skating lane, and in the track in a few spots, especially in the middle of the loop. There is a prominent sign, highlighted with pink flags at the trailhead asking people to not walk on the trails.
