The classic tracks were not groomed but the existing tracks worked ok. Lots of snow but getting some ice and wet snow but still very skiable. There were a couple of low snow areas on the north east section and then by the rail road tunnel but, very easy to ski around. The loops on the south side were more challenging with some blowing and drifting of the fresh snow, icy spots and and soft melting snow. Not great news for the skate skiers as the deck was not groomed and lots of foot traffic. All the classic skiers I saw or talked with were delighted to be out skiing today.

One of the reports from yesterday lured me out to WOB to try a skate lap. I'm glad I did, though it was fairly rough going. Groomer had covered up to the midline of the skate deck while setting beautiful classic tracks. The skate deck had a narrow corduroy path to the classic side, with frequent rough center channels, and soft with ski ruts on the outside. I was lured on by occasional short sections of magic and the fantastic beautiful setting that is WOB on an early spring-skiing day! Did all of the outside except South America after taking a major face digger on minor hill going from fast, shady snow to stop-right-now snow. Switched over to classic skin skis for an inside out loop and while getting slower in the early afternoon, it was very enjoyable. Tracks were still in good condition - only rare saturation, and no glazing to speak of.

Classic skied at noon and it was blue sky and tracks were set and one does not usually enjoy this kind of great skiing in the middle of March in the Twin Cities. But the groomers did a wonderful job. The skate deck was soft and the tracks varied from icy along the stretch past the campground and prior to the tunnel, but much less icy through the woods. No issues going down the hills on the soft skate deck. Just a real nice day. The daytime temperatures are only getting warmer so get out there soon to enjoy the skiing.

The skiing was fantastic! It's March! Tracks set deep. A bit of soft spots and some freeze area on slopes by the tracks - but all in all fun and manageable! We did 12 k and enjoyed the whole way.

Groomers went through the trails and reset tracks. Great skiing with some ice and soft snow but tracks holding up fantastic. The skating deck was soft on main trails and very soft on the outer loops. A few oak leaves but very clean and all trails are open.

Skated for twenty five minutes past the train tracks to the first cut off. Soft deck and tough going, I bailed out and strapped on the classics. Made all of the outer loops in a leisurely hour and a half. Generally in good to great condition, though the tracks were a bit icy around the Wetland Loop. Also tracks collapsing a bit in the sun on the upper return stretch of the Prairie Overlook. Terrific to have the whole course available halfway into March!

The classic skiing was great, fast and hard packed tracks in the open areas and a little softer tracks in the wooded sections. The trails were groomed perfectly and the tracks were in excellent condition. The skating deck was groomed but very soft yet with the new snow, but should be better tomorrow.

Every inch of the park is perfectly and newly groomed for both classic and skate. Ideal conditions!

I skied all the outer loops this afternoon and found the classic trails very skiable but ungroomed and took some work. The skating deck was not groomed or packed and no signs of skaters out today. The 8 miles of outer loops were very clean with no ice, branches, or leaves. The new new snow was very sticky and I had to clean my skis and add glide. I saw other skiers having the same issue.

Good news first: no leaves in the tracks at WOB in March! Lots of snow. Bad news: no grooming. There was a skied in track that skied OK for the first round, no side loops. Second round it was pretty beat up and wobbly. I did not see anyone skating and it would have been a hard slog with 2-3" of fresh snow and a lot of footprints sunk in the deck.
