2019-2020 season

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Classic skied. The Valley was open and groomed except for the north donut. The snow was cleaner than the last time I skied there on Wednesday. The small amount of snowfall last night probably helped plus grooming. Tracks were fair. Had a good last ski.

Still very skiable this morning. Dirty but freshly groomed and still surprisingly holding up quite well.

Skate Skied Elm early this morning while the groomers were out. As posted before the North Donut is closed but the rest was in surprisingly good shape. A touch soft but give it a couple hours and it should firm up some. Kudos to the groomers once again.

There's a lot of dirty snow out there. North donut is now closed. I thought with the temp below freezing and a stiff wind it might not be too bad, but the sun proved me wrong. The skate deck was a mixture of firm (with any little shade at all) and mashed potatoes (full sun). The classics tracks looked well formed, but again a lot of dark and brown sections. The best section is from the lesson area to the South donut. I think the end is near. Thanks to everyone who posted updates this season, I for one really appreciated it!

Another drive by. The trails are groomed and look better than yesterday. Maybe after the wind dies and tomorrow morning should be good.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Classic skiied the Valley trail. It was not recently groomed. The tracks were fair. The skate lane is mushy. The snow is very dirty especially at the end, near the chalet. The best skiing is from the practice area to the upper loop. Overall I had a good ski.

Observation
The lights were on this morning but the man made loop had not been groomed (around 6 am). Since the temps were well below freezing it was a solid sheet of ice and I found skiing too challenging as getting an edge was impossible.

I skied the man made loop this morning. It is the only trail at Elm that is open. The skate deck was in amazing condition; firm and fast. Although the snow overall is quite dirty and there are a few dirt areas (which are easily avoidable) you can still get away with the "A" skis. The classic tracks appeared to be in good condition as well. Enjoy these last few days. Kudos to the groomers.

Only the manmade loop is open/skiable, the full 2.5km. Very good coverage, nearly a foot of trail depth all the way around the loop. A dirty spot or two, and getting a little soft. Snow is like a snow cone, but not overly slow or beat up. I used my best skis and had no problem, never really worried about damage. The tracks looked a little soft, I am not sure I would use them the whole way around the loop, but doing classic in 40+ degrees is never going to be great.
