What a difference a week makes! Mild temps mid-morning when I took my skin skis over to try to hit the sweet spot between ice and slush. The tracks are valiantly trying to hang on but won't last much longer. Up by the stadium there are areas of debris. A nice day for skaters - the deck was still firm, not sugary on the uphills. Just a little skittery on the last sharp downhill turn. On my last lap just before noon I could see the slushy discoloration starting to appear in a few spots. Get out there while it lasts! Thanks, groomers, for giving us such a great local option.

In the steadily falling - and accumulating - snow, the tracks were easily followed and slippery, making for a nice end-of-day excursion!

Freshly groomed. Track gets a bit shallow in spots and breaks up on some curves, but overall conditions excellent, especially given the paucity of snow.

Trail has seen a lot of use since the last grooming, but overall conditions are good to very good. Track breaks up or disappears in a few spots, but the new dusting of snow made for good glide on flats and down hills, and good traction going up.

Skied about 2 PM. Fabulous conditions! The skate deck appears to have been groomed this morning. With a covering of new snow, conditions were perfect - albeit a bit slow. Classic tracks looked good but somewhat shallow. Kudos to the groomers!

Downright tropical out there today. No wind. Above zero. Tracks were in surprisingly decent good shape. Washouts on a few corners, one tree that wanted to spew a little debris, but otherwise very nice. Great to see the Highland high school team out. I asked them if they wanted me to set the pace for them. Guess they didn't get my old-lady-three-weeks-away-from-a-hip-replacement humor.

Went late Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. Relatively fast tracks and hard deck. Great kick with the cold snow but not as slow as I had anticipated. Tracks were good throughout.

Skied at Highland 9 Friday afternoon. It looked like the groomer had been out in the morning. There was fresh corduroy in the skate lane and the classic tracks had been set. The tracks were a bit shallow but very skiable.

About half the classic tracks are glorious, half are washed out including some straights. Good even coverage except that one northeast spot, easily avoided. Thanks groomers! Definitely helped. Made for a really nice couple laps on Rex light green kick around 7degF.

First time skiing Highland. Skate skiing seems to be the preferred method here...classic tracks were icy and difficult to navigate, often with only one track established.
