Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Observation
[ Trails: Closed, B skis ]
Saint Paul cross-country ski trails and fat tire bike trails are closed for the season due to thawing ground conditions. Even with major snowfall, the top layer of soil has softened significantly with warmer spring temperatures. Grooming, skiing, or biking on soft topsoil can cause major damage to the grass and soil beneath the snow. Because our winter trails double as golf courses, protecting the turf now is essential for high quality playing surfaces in the spring and summer. Thank you for your understanding as we transition into spring.

Trails are closed. Lots of bare grass, lots of ice. Skate deck maybe a half inch thick. Closed until further notice.

Icy but still 90% coverage; I enjoyed two loops on the SE flat loop off of the parking lot. Hopefully more snow will keep us on skis into March!

Como was a no go for me today. Today's freezing rain put a crust of ice over the top that made the entire course treacherous. I had thought that the afternoon sun and 37 degrees would soften it up but it didn't. I skied about 100 yards and quit. Not worth falling and hurting oneself. Having biked there with my skis on the rack, at least I got a bike ride in! Thanks to the groomers for trying, but nature didn't comply.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I would 95% of deck covered, 80 decent deck, and 15% icy at bottom of hills. Overall I would call it a bonus ski opportunity. Lost 45 days of skiing with no precipitation and warm weather, so take advantage while you still got it!

Groomed today. 80% in good condition 20% with grass exposure and ice. Skate deck is thin. No classic tracks. Be mindful can be icy at the bottom of hills.

Skied across the south half of the golf course. No groomed classic track but breaking trail across the powder was pretty nice for this novice. Enough powder to get by. A bit icy in some spots but they're generally avoidable.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Como cross country ski trail was groomed today. There are some wet areas, but a welcome change to what we've had lately. Not enough base to put in a classic track. Enjoy!

Once again, kudos to SPP&R - the grooming made it possible to enjoy a few more days of skiing with yesterday's snowfall. Sticky, some wet patches showing through, but still Nordic skiing!

Rolled Como golf course cross country ski trail. 85% perfection. The other 15% has a few wet areas. Tried my best to reroute the trail around the wet areas. Enjoy.
