New Reports Report Requests

Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The trail conditions have improved so much since a week ago! The trails are flat, the tracks no longer have debris, and a little new snow each day has made all the difference. We skied to the Sugarbush Cabin and the Anchor loop, and it was all great. Its probably fine to use good skis now, but I can't say for sure because it was dark and lightly snowing. The skate deck is a little soft because it's been so cold.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Classic skied about 18 km this morning. There was a little bit of fine cold new snow overnight. The groomers were out laying corduroy, and setting tracks as I skied. Skied new tracks the entire time. Snow is still a bit soft, firming up a bit though. Kick was great, glide was a tad slow due to the cold new snow. Twigs, gravel/sand and grass still poking through the base on sections. Overall a great cold ski! I just love the hill climb options here. Thank you groomers, keep up the awesome work and I'll start amping up my Birkie training. See you on the trails.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Classic skied short of 20 km this afternoon. Classic tracks were set on trails I skied: Abbey Road, Anchor, Seagull skate, Deer Path, Northern Lights, Upper Anchor, and Rollercoaster. Parts of the tracks were skied in old tracks, I tracked up 2 inches of fresh snow on Northern Lights. Conditions in the tracks and on the skate deck were soft, thin, but phenomenal for the amount of snow. I actually can't believe they were able to set tracks. B skis are recommended because grass, twigs, gravel, and rocks are around due to the thin conditions. Overall, a great cold weather ski! Get your Birkie training where you can this year. Praying for more snow! Thank you groomers! I'll be back.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
4" of fresh snow last night. Groomers have been out this morning. All classic only trails were first flat dragged then tracked. Most parts are excellent! Areas under trees are still a little thin and have some stubble poking through. Anchor Trails, Seagull and Abbey Road have been flat dragged and in the process of being combed and tracked.

[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Skied both on Wednesday night and Thursday morning out Abby Rd to the Sugarbush cabin (about 3.5k each way). It was great! A little uneven in places, but no dirt, debris or rocks anywhere. So happy that winter is here!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Trails are combed, no tracks. Coverage is still thin, especially under the trees, use caution! Skate lanes are groomed on Abby Rd, Anchor, Seagull and Northern Lights. Classic prepping on Sugarbush Classic and Deer Path. Grooming plans: Plan to groom again tomorrow, and hope to set tracks.
