New Reports Report Requests

Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

This is the season that will not quit. I decided to check out the Mt Ashwabay trails today and was pleasantly surprised to find they had just been groomed today. It was 42F degrees when I arrived at 2 pm which was no problem with my skin skis. It looks like there is still a 1-2 foot base. These are fabulous trails in the Bayfield highlands with beautiful views of Lake Superior and copious amounts of snow being in the Lake Superior snow belt. They even have an historic sugar shack along the trail. Thanks for grooming so late into the season - it is my favorite time of the ski season.

Very good conditions on Abbey Rd, Seagull, and Anchor. Jolly Long was not groomed full width, but crusty conditions made for a good ski. A number of skiers out.

Skate skied 12km on Anchor, Seagull, Northern Lights, and Abbey Rd. Anywhere the PB 200 went was fast but good conditions. Anchor, Seagull, and Northern Lights were in the best shape. Had I not been short on time I would have skied back and forth just on Northern Lights more. I'm grateful for new alpine groomer machine so we can still be skiing at this point. Thank you groomers for the excellent work this season!

Really fantastic skiing today. Groomers were out Saturday morning with the Pisten Bully where possible and with the smaller equipment otherwise. As of 2pm, new tracks were set on Sugarbush Classic, parts of Anchor, Jolly, and Skid Road. Tracks shallow in some places, good in others. Skating on all of those trails, plus Northern Lights fron the Sugarbush Cabin to the top of the ski hill. The skating was fantastic, getting softer in the later afternoon with the sun out, but firm and flat. Sunday conditions should be wonderful. Couldn't imagine better skiing on March 26th! (Getting down from the top of the ski hill is dicey as the Buzz isn't groomed yet, best bet is backtracking and going down Seagull unless you are up for an adventure...).

Pretty good at for skating at 10 am but deteriorated within an hour. Switched to skin skis the second hour, perfect for slush. Beautiful weather so we can't complain. Assume this is last ski of the season. Thank you groomers!

The temps are warming but there is still a ton of snow out on the nordic trails. Monday and Tuesday we reset tracks and combed skate lanes. With the warming temperatures it was difficult to set tracks in full depths in many places. The Buzz, Northern Lights, Abbey Road Skate only, Anchor, Seagull, Skid Road, Jolly Long, South Lower Sugarbush, Oppedahls, North Lower Sugarbush.

Deep snow and perfect conditions in Bayfield with regular grooming. On the backside of the Northern Pines classic only trail my classic poles punched through the crust down into the deep powder a couple times, and there was big hole where the snow groomer got stuck in the powder. First world problems. No downed limbs or debris on the trail. Skijor trails are perfect. Fat bike trails are also groomed and awesome.

Got a little dusting of snow today and did a little clean up. A lot of the classic trails are covered but tracks underneath were holding up very well. The Buzz (skate lane only look for major drifting and a hole above the clearing of the old tubing hill) Abbey Road (new tracks only till 1st trail intersection) Anchor (Skate lanes Retracked only on upper Anchor/powerline) Seagull (retracked and skate) Seagull Classic (watch out for soft spot at the end).

Skied 17km classic today and the conditions were fabulous! Northern Lights was groomed picture perfect: firm skate deck, good tracks, and firm pole plants. Best conditions I've skied here all season!
