Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Winter wonderland, beautiful snow everywhere. Looks like a couple inches of snow since last grooming. Classic tracks not crisp and new but skied-in and quite good. Skate deck with a couple inches of powder.

We spent about an hour skiing with grandkids, then skied about 5 miles. The trails were covered in about 3-4 inches of fresh snow, with a firm base. My granddaughter (age 7) called it "a winter wonderland!".

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Over a inch of heavy wet snow fell while I classic skied this afternoon. The track was washed out a bit on the trails closest to the chalet but very skiable with skin skis. Heavy snow was falling when I left. Grooming is planned to resume tomorrow.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Icy conditions early morning. The tracks on the classic route were icy and hard. They were better on the wider trails with both skate and classic. Need more snow and grooming on the classic trails.

Icy conditions over nice grooming. Light rain coated and glazed the trails with a little ice. Track was hard packed and glazed.

Firsthand: Freestyle Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I skated 20 K this morning on slick conditions and then sought approval to groom 15 K of skate deck this evening. I didn't attempt any new classic tracks since I was concerned about doing more harm than good. The transformed snow was easy to work with and hopefully will be firm-up by morning for the skaters. B skis for debris but good skis okay Happy Holidays.

We opted to ski here over the Birkie trail and it sure was a treat to ski! Great conditions, yes some pine cones in the pine areas but really great skiing. Used good skis, and was just mindful of those cones. Skate deck was great, classic track looked good too. Ran into Jon and Jon, they've done a great job along with the WDNR!

High 20s, sun came out before noon. Extra Blue short was just enough for kick. The small amount of fresh snow was groomed yesterday. Sally's classic was great. Debris at the usual locations, some area of concentrated debris where limbs had come down in the first snow, or where, what must have been a deer herd, had slept. But 80% to 90% of the trail was pretty primo. Track shallow in some spots but virtually always there. Skating looked great as well.

Brule is looking great thanks to their early heavy snowfall. Full coverage everywhere. A decent amount of trail detritus from the recent high winds, but that was getting better with each pass of the groomer. Classic trail looked pretty sweet, too. B skis just cuz of debris. Definitely worth the drive from Duluth.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
About 2-3" of snow fell overnight. All trails except the classic trail were groomed and tracked this morning including the fat bike trail. Expect some debris which is why I suggest B skis. The classic track is shallow in areas but looked great in places too.
