Trail Detail
Notes
Mostly easy to moderate with a few challenging hills. Best known for good grooming and scenic views of the Brule River. Groomed for both classic and skating. Home to the River View Loppet Race in March.Trail Reports

High 20s, sun came out before noon. Extra Blue short was just enough for kick. The small amount of fresh snow was groomed yesterday. Sally's classic was great. Debris at the usual locations, some area of concentrated debris where limbs had come down in the first snow, or where, what must have been a deer herd, had slept. But 80% to 90% of the trail was pretty primo. Track shallow in some spots but virtually always there. Skating looked great as well.

Brule is looking great thanks to their early heavy snowfall. Full coverage everywhere. A decent amount of trail detritus from the recent high winds, but that was getting better with each pass of the groomer. Classic trail looked pretty sweet, too. B skis just cuz of debris. Definitely worth the drive from Duluth.

The skate deck was groomed this morning on Maple, part of Oak, White Pine, Red Pine, Nebagamon, Little Joe and parts of Loop. No new tracks but about half the trails have tracks which were very firm after yesterday's thaw and last night's cool down. Expect some debris after last night's wind which is why I suggested B skis. The fat bike trail is very firm and riding great.

Another inch of snow this afternoon. As of 3:00 this afternoon, the groomer was out. Nearly all the trails have been rolled in recent days and new grooming ongoing today. Classic track now set on entry and return trails, Balsam, Aspen, North loop, northern portion of Oak. Great skiing.

Another 6" of snow this week has covered most of the debris. The inner trails close to the chalet were rolled but not groomed this week. When I left at 12:30 the groomer was heading out. The plan was to groom and hopefully set some track on the inner trails. The fat bike trail was riding firm today and all but the last 2 miles are cleared and groomed.

JT and I skated the 18k race loop today with about 1.5" of fresh snow. The efforts of both the DNR and the BVSC volunteers are continuing to show. Many thanks to all involved. Expect a few hanging trees on White Pine but you can still get through. The Classic trail has been partially cleared and rolled and the rest of the trails have been rolled. Some grooming by the chalet but no tracks yet. Come on out and help snap a few twigs.

With a great volunteer effort and the WiDNR support we have some great progress. Not all trails are open yet but the trails near the chalet are firm and very skiable. Fat bike trails are getting firmed up too. As of noon today (Friday) no tracks were set. Grooming plans: Plan was to groom and set tracks prior to Saturday.

Stopped by on the way to work. Looks like the area was rolled. Not sure any track was set but it's great to see some progress. Thanks to the crew!
