Willow is pretty rough at this point. The thin base is hard packed and worn through in spots. Rock skis are a must if you ask me. You may be able find a clean stretch but I quit after a couple miles to save my B skis.

I started classic skiing at 7 am, at that time there were no classic tracks set, but skiing was great, and I very rarely ran into any debris. I started from the Nature Center to purple, then skied the entire silver trail to the Falls. From there I skied to the campground, then up to the group campground. The red trails were in very good shape throughout. Lastly, I followed the Brown trail back to the Nature center. As I ended my 3 hour trip, I did see them out grooming the classic tracks. Guess I was to early ;) I recommend getting there ASAP. Once again, thank you groomers!

We did receive 3" of new snow and it really helped the thin base. All trails are now groomed for skate and track has been set. The skate deck is 90% covered with very good conditions. The 10% that is not is mostly areas under trees with grass and leaves showing thru. There are a few of the steeper downhills when the snow has beeen scraped off and rocks are showing thru. Beware of that hazard but if you look before heading down a steep hll, those spots are avodable. The classic tracks are 70% covered with grass and leaves showing mostly in trail secions going thru open fields. It is not much of a problem to step out of the tracks onto the deck to avoid grassy areas.

Green loop is good. Other trails are passable. Groomers were out mid day. Not busy. B skis on the green loop. Thank you groomers.

The Green Loop and Purple loop are still in pretty good condition for skating. For classic, the Green Loop is probably your best bet. Yesterday I skied the Silver trail as well, but that was a bit rough, especially on the big hill after the bridge near the Purple Trail. Hopefully we get more snow to keep it going. I'm planning to ski again tomorrow, but I'll probably stick to Purple and Green. Great job getting those trails groomed and ready to roll quickly when we finally got some snow!

The skate lane was re-groomed on red, yellow, orange, green and blue today. I tried to set tracks on red with varied success. I would use rock skis as conditions are thin. There are two areas that I found today skiing is the hill on yellow that goes from the gravel parking lot to the 300 camp road is full of exposed rocks. Going up you can avoid but coming down the hill will be a problem. Also, the short downhill just past where the bike trails cross on purple there are a number of small rocks. I hit a number of the while skiing. Overall, the skate lane is quite good with occasional debris exposed from grooming. The classic tracks are hit and miss. The best tracks are on the green trail on the campground loop.

I was down there before sunrise and didn't see another person for 2 1/2 hours. Purple trail was first. Classic tracks had quite a bit of debris, but the skate deck was very good and enjoyable to ski even with classic. I then skied my way to the Green trail. Other than a small area going up the hill, the classic tracks were great all around the campground. I continued on down to the Falls. The classic tracks were thin with debris, but again the skate deck was great. The big hill coming back to the campground was perfectly groomed for the long climb. Have to thank the groomers for doing a wonderful job in such short time.

Skied Purple Loop. Very skiable. Some grassy areas in tracks but easy enough to step aside. Beautifully done groomers. Thank you!

All trails were groomed tonight for skate and all trails except silver and red were tracked. Expect classic tracks to be variable ranging from excellent to shallow with leaves and bare spots. Skate lane has better coverage but ranges from thin and bumpy to very good on the smoother trails of green and purple. I would use rock skis for classic and rock or B skis for skate.
