From Menomonie trailhead to Irvington trail was in good condition for skate and very good for classic. It's been packed but soft enough in spots that poles broke thru on several occasions (so much so from prior skaters that I thought it was deer hoof prints at first) . 32 degrees and sunny when not shadowed by the bluffs. I used FastWax Salmon LF. Speed varied from slow in full sun to okay in sections with limited time of sun exposure to slow again in deep shade.

The Red Cedar Trail was groomed and tracked for skating and classic from Menomonie to Downsville today after several inches of snow on Friday. Classic tracks are good and the skate deck is somewhat soft with the new snow.

Grooming

This week the Red Cedar Trail from Menomonie to Downsville was compacted and rolled. Today the trail was groomed and tracked for skating and classic skiing. Plenty of snow and good conditions. No ice or slush observed.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Grooming plans: We will be working on the Red Cedar throughout the week. Sunday's storm brought down branches and leaves which when added to the new snow and significant drifting has made the trail a mess.

The Red Cedar is groomed and tracked from Menomonie to Downsville with tracks on both sides of the trail from Menomonie to Irvington. Again it is a little narrower than I like on that stretch as with all the snow it is tough to know exactly where the trail is. From Irvington to Downsville I only set a track on the river side so skating will be better on that stretch.
