Skating and tracks were excellent this morning. They have been tilling every night. Skating was rocket fast with lots of control. Things slowed down in the afternoon as things warmed up. The expert trails were either closed or ungroomed.

Surprised how good the newly groomed trails were this morning. Skiing all of the core trails was plenty enough distance for me. Been out of town for about a week in Milwaukee where everyone is on their bikes to find the skiing here very good. Snow didn't get soft until lunch time. Hardly any debris.

Flew up to Minocqua for a half day of skiing at Winter Park. All the trails are still open. 34F Found amazing amount of snow still on the trails. Awesome conditions for skating with solid base and fresh corduroy on some of the trials-skied out on Lake Marie trail where there it hadn't been groomed for several days but still very good and fast! Tracks were in excellent shape as well except for some areas of leaf debris and twiggs- same for skating. Staff said they would definitely be open thru the weekend and try to stay open as long as snow holds out. Maybe April skiing?

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Fresh snow and fresh grooming! The 2" of snow we received has helped soften up those skate decks and reduce the glaze in the classic tracks. Groomers have been out since early this morning and have finished almost all interior trails including Island. Skate decks re-set on Wolf Tracks and River Run. Edge control should be greatly improved and with warmer temperatures, the skiing should be fabulous today.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Lots of fresh grooming to report this morning! Almost all trails have fresh skate decks and there are fresh classic tracks on River Run, Cookie Loop, Sleigh Ride, Red Pine, Creek Trail, and VO2 Max. Conditions are excellent with smooth skate decks and most of the classic tracks are full depth. Some of the older classic tracks may have some leaf debris in them from yesterday's wind. It's shaping up to be a fabulous weekend.

Afternoon

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
I took my usual route including Base, Tornado Alley, and Survivor out to XC Express. The skate deck was a little crusty under a fresh dusting. Glide was good and control was ok. Once I got to XC Express, the grooming was better. I skied Nekoosa and Wolf Tracks which had been freshly groomed. Conditions were excellent with fast glide and very good control on those final steep hills. I was in and out of the classic tracks on the many long gradual downhills. Classic tracks were firm and fast but not icy. I skied 22 kilometers virtually skiing the Worldloppet's Ukraine Charity Loppet. Registration fee is a donation for aid to Ukraine.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Conditions are fantastic especially after receiving about 1/2" of fluffy snow this morning. All trails (except Nutcracker) have now been groomed at least once since the ice storm with the Pisten Bully creating some fast and effortless, but very controllable skiing over the last few days! Skate decks are smooth with no ice chunks and classic tracks are firm and fast. Groomers plan to be out on the trails tonight and plan to reset skate decks and classic tracks on a bunch of trails including the remote long trails for Saturday.

I skied 20km of freshly groomed trail including the remote trail Wolf Tracks. Conditions were fantastic. Skate decks were fast and smooth with great edge control. Tracks were in great shape for the most part with a few shallow areas. By the afternoon, the older grooming was skiing well too. It's true spring skiing time!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails are back open today! Crews got out and re-groomed about 20+km of beginner and intermediate trails this morning. Almost all of the core interior trails are groomed and ready to go. Conditions on those trails are very nice! No icy patches and clean full depth classic tracks. Light snow continues to fall throughout the day. Grooming plans: Grooming efforts will continue this evening.

Observation Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Good skis ]
Conditions have been fabulous over the last few days, but we've decided to close the park for the weekend due to ice accumulations and a forecast of rain. We want to keep everyone safe as the driving conditions this morning were dangerous. We ask that skiers stay off the trails until groomers are able to assess the conditions. This will help protect the trails so that we can keep skiing well into March!
Current average snow depth on trails is about 7". Snow depth in woods is about 20".
