Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The tracks were nicely set, deep but not icy. Skied multiple loops and even though they could use a little more snow (who couldn't?), the fantastic crew at MWP keep the trails in the best shape possible. Get while the gettin's good.

Classic skied most of day. Tracks were deep. Minimal debris. Worth driving from Green Bay. Entire park had been groomed in past two days. Best skiing of the season for my friend and I.

Overall, a most excellent adventure. Skied some inner loop trails, here and there for an hour and came away grateful. Doesn't get much better, got to chat with a few friends, inside masked, trail side, and saw a lot of happy skiers of all levels buzzing around. Nice to see life, active people, youngsters, oldsters, all on what has to be one of the best systems in... well I haven't been everywhere, but it's pretty dang good with a lot of dedicated trail people and groomers.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The grooming crew went out and got the east side of the park all groomed up for both skate and classic including both River Run and Wolf Tracks. Single-track classic-only trails Cedar Creek and Big Pine were also freshly tracked. The entire park has been groomed in the last two days and the trails are in excellent condition! Average snow depth on trails is about 8-9". Skate decks are firm and classic tracks are deep and solid. It's a wonderful weekend to ski!

Fantastic skiing on all of the freshly groomed and tracked western side trails. Firm and full depth tracks. The other trails were good as well. Nice trailside fire to stop by and warm up at. Very fortunate to have this is a great place to ski in Wisconsin.

We classic skied the River Run trail at Minocqua and it was very nice. It was snowing pretty good when we arrived and before long there was an inch of powder on the ground. The fresh powder made the downhills fun.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Almost all trails have been re-groomed with the Pisten Bully last night including both River Run and Lake Marie. Firm skate decks and deep classic tracks can be found throughout the trails system now that the last of the fresh snow has been groomed in. Conditions are as good as they’ve been all year!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Almost all trails and one long one: Wolf Tracks were re-groomed after receiving about an inch and a half of fluffy snow this morning. Conditions are excellent with a trail base of about 8 inches! Groomers are scheduled to go out again tonight. It’s a great weekend of skiing.

I skate skied Base to Tornado Valley to XC Express to Nepco’s Cruise and on to River Run for a total of 19 kilometers. The trails had all been freshly groomed with perfect corduroy. The skate deck was firm and speed was good. Control on the steep downhills was very good. Overall I would rate conditions as excellent.

Temperature was 7 degrees when I started skiing around 3:00 pm. I started out on the Base Loop out to Tornado Alley. The skate deck was fresh corduroy, firm but probably the slowest I have ever experienced here. With the slow conditions, I thought it might be a good time to ski Nutcracker. However, when I got there, I discovered it had not been groomed recently as there was approximately 5 inches of fresh snow on the trail. I decided to try it anyway. Speed on the ungroomed trail was about the same as it was on the groomed trail. Control on the steep downhills was good but not as good as on the freshly groomed trails where I was able to edge my skis. I survived Nutcracker without falling. From there I skied the Yukon trail out to Island Hop. The skate deck on Island Hop was soft with many parts of the trail drifted in. I continued on the XC Express and Nepco’s Cruise finishing up several hours of skiing with just shy of 14 kilometers. I was dressed warm and comfortably so I had a great ski outing. I should note that when I jumped in the groomed classic tracks, I found them to be firm and fast.
