Skiied freshly groomed trails after several inches of snow over weekend. The cold temperatures help set up the trails. Although I'm not a skate skiier, the deck looked solid. The classic tracks were deep and firm. Get on out there and enjoy.

Finished grooming all skate loops today. Same for classic loops. Almost all of the classic tracks I would rate as excellent. Very little litter to contend with. Robert re-groomed skate loops this afternoon with our repaired Tidd Tech drag and reported excellent results. Forget the temperature readings this week and get out and ski.

Four inches of fresh snow made a big difference for skiing today. I groomed all but two skate loops and one classic loop this morning. Tracks sat up beautifully. Skate deck was mostly nice and firm. Skied three classic loops this afternoon and found the tracks holding up very well. Best skiing of the entire winter so far. Grooming plans: Will groom the final loops tomorrow morning.

Finished grooming classic loops this morning. New tracks on Hair Raiser, Wild Thing and Lions Pride. For the first time all winter I am happy to report very good to excellent skiing on all classic loops. Extensive clearcutting last summer on the Lions Pride and Oak Ridge led to bad to poor conditions for about a kilometer on both due to drifting and sun exposure making ice base, but now there is good snow on both. Robert groomed skate loops on Sunday with good results also.

Arrived midday to find new tracks set on some of the loops. About 2 inches new snow last night. Very nice classic skiing today.

We enjoyed a blue bird afternoon skiing the classic trails that had been groomed earlier in the day. No ice, a few leaves, but no branches. The groomers have done an excellent job with the amount of snow available. Conditions were good to very good.

Robert groomed the skate side loops last night. He feels they are mostly decent for skiing, but if doing Long Rider and Bruce's Roundabout he advises B skis due to stretches where there is stubble sticking up along with new fallen oak leaves and occasional dirt patches. I groomed most of the classic loops this morning. With less and less snow to work with the tracks for the most part are holding up well, with good coverage almost all the time. The exceptions would be Oak Ridge and Lions Pride where extensive clearcut logging was carried out on Northern Highland State Forest land last summer. About 2 or 3 kilometers on those two loops, along with a similarly exposed piece of clearcut along Hair Raiser have left some stretches blown almost clean of snow down to hard ice underneath. It's a very short patch on Hair Raiser that has iffy tracks. I skied Doug's Folly, Short Cut and Wild Thing this afternoon on my good skis and found mostly good tracks.

Recently groomed skate deck, thin but not enough to hold you back. Attached pic is of the worst spot (was on Long Rider). Occasional leaves and leaves from todays strong wind but not bad. Some areas of single pieces of brush poking through. Tracks looked mostly good, a little dirty here and there.
