Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Significant work has been done with snowmaking and grooming to get what the rain and warm temp damaged back in skiable condition. Trails will be open starting at 8am Saturday. Expect a layer of corn snow over packed base. Track will be set along with skate lane. Largely the 3.5 k of open loops are in good condition with good coverage, there are a few minor easily avoidable dirty spots.

This was my first time at the new venue. Despite 49° temperature and chance of rain, the skiing turned out to be very good. About 2mi of trails groomed for classic and skate skiing were open with plenty of man-made snow. The facility has a great feel: lights throughout, warming cabins, rental equipment, surprisingly hilly terrain, and a great friendly staff.

Amazing trails and perfectly groomed! Super fast and fun! I skied the classic trails- loops of about 2 miles- really fun hills. The grounds are beautiful and the staff there was amazing. I bought a winter pass and plan to be there as often as I can.

Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Opening day at The ANC! Classic skied in 3/4 depth tracks on a constantly rolling 3.5 K loop that enjoys a nearly 2' base. Adjacent skate deck was solid. The groomer said more trails will come on line based on weather and completion of the Nordic Center building that's in its final stages. I was able to bound up all the hills with my skins, but the perpetual winds that hit this mostly open track adds to the workout. This facility is going to a tremendous additional arrow in the local Nordic Skiers quiver! Carpe Skiem!

Explored the new Ariens Nordic Center (ANC) today. Looks like this is going to be a fabulous addition to the region for the Nordic community! I noted the broadly rolling terrain with plenty of illumination for night skiing. They started making snow today with the capability to cover the entire 5+ K network (not open yet). Grooming plans include a skate deck along side double tracks for striders. Let it snow and let those snow guns blow!
