Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Winter wonderland! The tracks were set on Leo's loop, the 6k loop, and the lighted loop. However, they were starting to fill in quickly because of the intense snowfall. The skate deck was really soft. It was a perfect winter day.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Everything was groomed for skating. Most of the 10 k also had tracks. The trails closest to the chalet were the best. There were a few rough spots on T, R and M.

Skied most of the 20 k, Leo's loop, Marsh Meadow and the little alps. Lots of sticks in various areas and did my part and removed many sticks and even one large limb off the trail, as I observed others doing as well. The skate deck was icy and thin in some areas but other long stretches were excellent. Definitely got a good workout. Conditions exceeded my expectations. Groomers have accomplished excellent work.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Decided to ski in the squeaky cold snow this morning. Skied half of the lit loop and half of Y before my binding broke. Tons of pine needles, sticks, debris on the trail due to the wind yesterday. Tracks are present, but there are bare spots within them, even on Y, which usually has good coverage in "early" season conditions. Deck was a mix of hard and soft, but covered in debris. Expect to use rock skis for now. Hopefully the groomer is able to help clean up some of the sticks and such, they were headed out when I finished my short morning on my remaining ski.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
We will open the chalet starting Wednesday morning. The trails have been rolled, except for the Alps and the little Alps. Track was set on the inner trails near the chalet. It set up nicely overnight and was decent skate and classic this afternoon. Expect to go around thin spots on the track. The south facing hills on the 10k and 20 k are rough but doable. Fat tire biking will also be open. Fingers crossed that we get a bit more snow to smooth out the track.

[ Trails: Closed ]
All major trails have been rolled but none have been groomed. We are so close, just need a few more inches and then hopefully we can finally start skiing in Central Wisconsin!

Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
We've received a small amount of snow over the week. About 2 inches on Sunday and another inch Wednesday. Currently, there is a base of about an inch. All trails have been rolled, though not enough snow to groom. Trails remain closed to skiing and snowshoeing. Fat Tire Biking is open. The chalet is open on a limited schedule: Saturday's and Sunday's from 8am-4pm. Pass envelopes are available at the kiosk off the main parking lot for outside chalet hours.

Observation
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
We have a dusting over the ground to make it pretty, but not even as deep as the sole of my shoes. We are closed to skiing, but we are open to fat tire biking. Chalet will be open 8-4 Saturdays and Sundays for fat tire biking. Pay at chalet when open, or in parking lot when chalet is closed.

Grooming
[ Trails: Closed, Rock skis ]
The Wausau Area received about 4 inches of snow on Thursday (Wednesday we were at bare ground). At Nine Mile, we have rolled some of the ski trails. Snowshoe and bike trails will not be groomed. Our hope is to preserve the snow we have ahead of any warmer weather. All trails remain closed due to low snow.
