Five groomers out early this morning today and both Pisten Bullies. Trails groomed up well. A few sections are still flooded by the River but are starting to freeze. Plan: Touch up grooming in the early morning, and Tamarack and the Windy Ridge get groomed.

We sent 6 groomers out this early morning for the 8 inches of new snow that had fallen overnight. We packed all 76 km, trails were great today, we had to close some of the south due to a wet spot. Hopefully all 76 km will be open New Years day.

We turned back to snowy winter. We received about 5 inches of snow which we groomed all day long with 4 groomers. Some of the trails to the south were too wet to groom so we closed them for today -- we hope to open them in the morning if they are frozen. We had 48 km of the 76 km system open today. Skiers were happy.

Lemons this morning at 5 AM, Lemonade at 10 AM. We woke up to a parking lot you could not walk across, a driveway the groomers could not drive up, roads the team could hardly drive in on! I wanted to put up the closed sign and go back to bed. We rallied and groomed the trails with several attempts, we removed the ice mat on the driveway and sanded the parking area and the county sanded the roads by 10 AM. We had a great day of skiing -- lots of happy skiers!
We have a full crew of 8 coming in at 8 AM (late start based on forecast) to groom and 2 more to remove snow. I think you will find the best skiing at 10:30-11 AM. 9 AM opening may be thin snow over hard base. We plan to groom during the day until 3 PM to keep up any snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The good news is we were able to groom about 10-15 km of the main trails. The bad news is roads are icy as of 8 AM, parking lot is slick and it is raining.

Super skiing today, much better than yesterday. Groom crew of five took care of trails early morning today. Skiers were very happy. After a freeze thaw like last week it takes us two days to really grind the transformed snow into small "snowcone" like pieces that are pleasant to ski on. We regroomed 68 k of trails this morning. Tomorrow is uncertain. Forecast and what's happening is not the same. We had rain from 2:45-3:35 this afternoon, then snow for 1 hour . It is off and on snow and rain the past few hours, but light. We have the grooming crew on standby for the morning. I expect some/most of the trails will be good-very good for skiing, check in before skiing for the latest.

In the Minocqua we have had temps above freezing for 48 hours with low of 22F Thursday night. All the local trails we explored were very icy with icy tracks - so what to do? Of course go to ABR, where they have 2 PistenBullys and excellent groomed trails. We were not disappointed! Skating deck was firm, but no ice. Classical tracks were deep with no ice in the bottom. We skated Blueberry Bluffs to coyote canyon, then Haughton highlands and back to chalet. Ate lunch and went striding on Tamarack two tap and came back on hemlock so we could see the ice falls. Sunny and 28 degrees, another glorious day in the neighborhood. I can always count on Eric to have expertly groomed trails to ski on. Kudos to the groomers!
