First time ever skiing here. We skied late in the day and after dark. Didn't find any trails that were lit, but used head lamps. It was a blast - great conditions and I loved the long gradual downhills. On my list of top 5 most fun ski days!

After quite the snow drought, Houghton County in the UP finally got snow--30" of very light, fluffy snow in the Jan 11-14th storm. Groomers are working as hard as possible. I skied the upper trails at Chassell and they were wonderful. In the trees, a few pine needles and grass were visible, but it was snowing hard as I left, and I'm sure they're now covered. The lower trails weren't yet open, but I expect they'll open very soon.
