Old timey classic. You just can’t beat the quality of this trail. Like greeting an old friend, we parked, donated, and gently pushed off on the winding single track, climbing winding alongside the ravine, past rock outcroppings, through stands of spruce, hemlocks, hardwoods, pines, and rarely, an open pasture view. With around 300’ of climb, you hardly notice the effect as the trail gently twists and turns to relieve the effort, a burbling brook under your feet. Almost perfect skis help, and give the smile that shows life at its best. Of course the downs from the top give just a few thrills and chills, enough to wake you from the reverie and put an edge on that life. An hour well spent. Best Line Everyday!

Good conditions at Chassell's classic ski trails today. Despite being only 8 miles south of Houghton, there is a bit less snow and the short snow showers have largely missed this area. The ski tracks were a bit glazed and could use a bit of new snow. Nonetheless the narrow single track trails were a change in pace from the open skate trails at Michigan Tech. They were fast and mostly fun.
