Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Upper, lower, competition and Nara trails are groomed and tracked with the fresh snow. There was some light drifting in the upper trails by the time I finished the Nara and competition trails but it should not be an issue. Tolkien is groomed and tracked. Nara River trail is groomed as well. Things look much better with a new layer of snow! Thank you for skiing our trails!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Upper/competition trails were all groomed/tracked this morning (7am). Heavy snow started at 3am and washed out work on Isle Royale loop and birch. Groomer was able to re-groom Hairpin and Skidder. Plan is to re-groom all trails tonight after forecasted snow is over. Thank you for skiing our trails!

Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All ]
All upper and lower trails are groomed and tracked. With races this weekend, the final course prep was completed this morning. For training purposes this afternoon the 5km course will be tracked with a single track along the outside which will differ from a normal days groom. With snow beginning to fall, the track will be set in the early afternoon finishing up around 1:30 or 2 pm. Tolkien was also groomed this morning with grooming finishing by 11 am.

Night
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great conditions! New classic track on one or both sides with skating down the center. Very diverse terrain from very easy to very challenging. The nicest lit trail system I have skied on.

Secondhand Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed, Bare ground ]
Mich Tech reports: The Michigan Tech trails will be closed on Monday, December 30, including access to the parking lot and wax facilities. The forecast calls for heavy snow starting sometime in the morning. We will be working on the grooming plan for the December 31 training day and will communicate that later on Monday.
There will be no access to the parking lot or wax rooms and trailers to ensure the snowplows and front-end loaders can do their work during the day on Monday without having to work around vehicles.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Prime ski conditions are upon us. Deck is flat and firm. Add in mild temps and blue sky, and skiing did not suck. Lower trails didn't have tracks yet, but according to the Tech Trails weekly email, those are going in today.

Evening
Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
I skated Completion, Core, and Nara trails Thursday and all but Core was on the slow side as they had just been rolled but was still wonderful ski. Friday afternoon was so much better as all the trails had been nicely groomed- they must have spent many hours out grooming to hit all the trails they did. Thank you! We classic skied with no tracks but it was fine. The Nara trails were real nice (see picture on Homestead loop down by Pilgrim River) and sunset looking out in Valley off the loop.
